They were a couple of miles apart along US Route 6, but all of the five and dimes were barely a hop, skip and a jump apart in my New York shopping area, once we got off the train going over from Scotch Plains, on our Saturday mornings, when we went shopping for 45s at 3 for 69 cents and extremely valuable jewels from the 29 cent racks.

Yes, ladies and gents, if you weren't dating something that smelled like it came out of a cathouse, you were the one who smelled like you lived there.
