A radio repair business that also advertised television repair could be found in our town up until about 10 years ago although every time I drove by, it seemed as if the store was closed so maybe it had gone out of business years earlier but the store remained giving the appearance that it was still open for business.
I'm old enough to remember the TV repairman who actually used to come to our house when our set went on the fritz. Poor Mr. Battle, I used to look over his shoulder and bug him with annoying questions the whole time he worked but if he was bothered by me, he never let on.
I like my Wal-Marts to be staffed by courteous employees who will recognize me when I'm purchasing a case of water for my country/pop/disco dance club saloon.
"One Night In Bangkok" was a 1984 hit for Murray Head, and was written by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, the two "B"'s in ABBA.
[size=8pt]And for some bizarre reason or another, that was my introduction song at the motocross races I used to do several years ago, whenever they ran intro songs (not all did). Can't figure out how or why it was *that* song, best I can figure out is because of a cueing error at a race early on (the reel to reel I gave the guy to play had "Really Bad" by Rough immediately after "Bangkok"--the former song was the one they were *supposed* to play.) I guess at that point it kind of stuck.
In fact, I might still have that old tape somewhere on site; I do know I still have the Nagra IV-S that I recorded it on... ;o)
On reel-to-reel is how we used to produce all of our commercials, promotional spots, and station identifiers and since all we had was a 2-track recorder, we had to be proficient in the lost art of splicing.
It is not lost on people with talent, and those who have no talent never had it to lose in the first place.
So I'm driving to the travel agent today when my regular oldies station just fades into oblivion for a time. I hit the seek and find button and the station lands on this small town station that does not seem to know what it wants to be. There is some girl on there speaking inner city street jive about her deep desires, changing partners or some other weird conversation she was having with herself into her microphone. Then after all the chatter it went back to playing music, and the girl came back on but with no street jive dialiect. I am pretty sure that station probably doesn't have many listeners. I know I sure tuned out in a hurry. That's a sick person with some kind of a hangup or something. Very very frocked in the mind methinks.
I found my missing Olivia Newton-John concert t-shirt under some of my other clothes, which were in layers on some pilfering little nere do well, who was riding around sucking in fumes from the improperly fitted catalytic converter that had quad's serial number on it.
The improperly fitted catalytic converter that had quad's serial number on it was confiscated and the alleged perpetrator apprehended thanks to some good old fashioned police work by the local authorities and accurate record keeping by quadraphonic.
Accurate record keeping by quadraphonic is the reason we get a paycheck on time, the reason we get our expense checks on time, and the reason Olivia Newton-John keeps coming back to FanFest.
Makes you wonder why we keep losing the andreajesus's, Anyacat's and Stuart's of the world. One of the mysteries of life.
Ok, so Miss Silkie snuck in with a contribution so let's try this:
