Fantastic word game

7.1 surround sound is a big step up from 1970's movies such as Earthquake and Midway that created an enhanced audio experience with a technology known as Senssurround.

Sensurround was before my era, as the industry by that time had pretty much been taken over by theDolby System.

[size=8pt]And the dominant surround format of the 80s? Pa-dum: PRO LOGIC, which eventually was worked into the matrix quad (or 6-track, depending on how it was implemented at the particular theatre) system used in SR film recordings.

@kenrayc--
AC3 ("Audio Codec #3") is a lossy audio codec used in the Dolby Digital system. It is used in movie theatres, and in a slightly modified form is found in DVD Video and laserdiscs, ATSC/QAM and [sometimes] DVB transmissions. Audiophiles sometimes use it as an alternate format to the (much-maligned) MP3 format, however the two are mutually incompatible and require seperate software to play back. The abbreviation "AC3" is often used to refer to the Dolby Digital system in general.

Explain them to us and you will be describing Darth_vader in the library showing off all the new tech toys he has rigged up for us.

The motivation to rig up anything Windows-based was pretty much lost after XP came out, but I'll gladly rig up a Linux box for you, and I'll put any Linux distribution you want on it as long as it's Mandriva.

[size=8pt]Don't bother looking for any sort of GSM-based radiophones either, not on my dental-floss budget. (Who can afford GSM, anyways? ;o)

Most parts of the world got to see The San Francisco Giants win the World Series tonight.

Welcome to The Fantastic Word Game jmtillery.

The elections results tomorrow will show us who becomes governor in all 50-states for the term ending four years from January.

I just found the game, and it appears to be fun. It's hard to believe this thread has been active for so long with so many post. Thank you for the welcome!

Ending four years from January, we hope to be well beyond Page 10,000 but it really depends on both the quantity of contributors and the quantity of contributions.

JMTillery, welcome to our little world. We've been here for nearly 4 years, where the heck have you been? ;D

The only real rules you need to remember is that your beginning clue is the bolded end clue from the most recent entry. Please bold it as your beginning clue. Your new end clue (bolded please) can be a word, name, or phrase. I'm sure you can figure out what we do here just be reading a page or two or, if necessary, reading all 1,500+ pages which, by the way, is highly recommended if you are bored just to see how far we've come and matured.

All dialogue (such as this) beyond the actual contribution should be italicized preferably.

TFWG is a Radio-Info.com special presentation and is governed by the Board of Directors who are, in turn, governed by the PowerWorld LLC Board of Governors.

The quantity of contributors and the quantity of contributions has been pretty steady over the years, because the slackers tend to realize they can't hang and so they extricate themselves from the proceedings, if you get my drift.

Only the strong survive this most sublime of games. All the others find "something better to do," which is self-preserving shorthand for "I couldn't hang." Those who know the truth know the truth.
The key is for this thread to never fall below the front page out there. :)
Welcome jmtillery!

Drift over from that trivia game a few doors down and you wil most assuredly have alot more fun.

Your TFWG Board of Directors:

WMC (me) --Game Czar
dmargalotti - International Director of Band Camp and Czar of Early Morning Contributions
quadraphonic - Czar of TPS Reports (due in each Thursday or Friday depending on your alphabetical conundrum)
Raptusregalitur - Linguistics Czar (raptus is currently on a mystery leave of absence)
Silkie - Chief Mixologist, Director of Miss Silkie's Tasty Tidbits, Head Librarian

Unfortunately, we've lost a couple of Directors to real life situations. Silkie was recently quietly promoted to the Board - even she doesn't know that. :D

Peanut Gallery: Kenrayc, Darth Vader, DToTheJ, and any and all newcomers who don't screw things up.

WElcome aboard JMTillery.

Have alot more fun is a very broad and subjective phrase depending on one's personal preference.

Thank you to everyone who has extended a very warm welcome to me. I found this thread quite by accident, as a link to it was posted on another board. I thought "what the heck", I'll take a look and see what it is all about, unlike the "hokey pokey".

Personal preference plays a prominent role in the growth of PowerWorld Industries [the parent company of the FWG], and things are usually kopasetic until someone goes scatalogical with their comedy, or we go too long without mentioning the siren of the FWG, Olivia Newton-John.

The siren of the FWG, Olivia Newton-John, Elton John, neutron stars, Santa Clause and cosmic comedy are examples of eclectic diversity and opinion, all of which is of interest to someone, possibly even the intergalactic space aliens who have been extremely concerned with the predicted molecular composition of Mars surface in the year 2025.

Quadraphoinc, you really made me think about this one...

Mars surface in the year 2025 could quite possibly be the location of our first ever intergalactic band camp.

Thanks for joining jmtillery and good morning! Remember, for each friend or family member you convince to join TFWG, you'll earn rewards points that can save you money on purchases made in our Olivia Newton-John Fan Club Gift Shop.

Intergalactic band camp sounds like fun and I can't wait to figure out how they operate the annual band camp obstacle course.

Geez, quad, quite the last post you made what with the big words especially at that time of night. ;D

JMTillery, quite a post by you as well what with you being new and all. I think you'll fit right in. ;D
