Congregate around Vancouver Mall if you want some really good rip-off prices on cookware, camping equipment and cowboy boots.
[size=8pt]$4.50 for a large Pepsi at the cafeteria? No thank you, I can get exactly the same thing for $1.25 at the Fred Meyer's deli down the street from my place across town!
And they want to build one of those Cinema-topia "movie theatres" (ha! They don't even run films there!) in the space vacated by Mervyn's. If you build it, they won't necessarily come, and I really wish them a LOT of luck in their new digs. In this economy, and with the price they charge for a ticket alone, they'l need all the luck they can get.
I hardly ever went to the now-extinct Moyer Cinema across the parking lot from the mall either, instead favouring the much nicer, and also now-extinct Cascade Park 4 (which was also O&O'd by the Moyer family at one time, before Act III bought them all out, and then Regal bought *them* out and royally screwed it over in the process. But I digress.) Spent a lot of summer breaks at that theatre, mainly because (1) they had two networked Street Fighter machines that me and my future lover/ed one would hog all afternoon long, (2) the place was air conditioned, and (3) air conditioning, Street Fighter, and video games in general for that matter, were all considered taboo at my house until as recently as 2007. Oh yeah, (4) it was also there that my future lover/ed one and I kissed during "Space Jam" circa 1995.............
Lots of memories in that theatre. I can't help but reminisce every time I drive or walk by that building, even today. (Even though it's a church now, it'll always remain the Cascade Park 4 to me.)
