The last one to use the FWG University's PDP-10 at the end of the day needs to log out properly then call me at the computer centre so I can perform an orderly shutdown and not leave the thing running all night long.
[size=8pt]The last few nights somebody with the login name "zaphodd" under the PG #17,2026 has been logging in at around 2030h, finishing their activities around midnight-30 the next morning, then just leaving it there to idle the rest of the night away.
Now I really don't mind folks logging in to run their batch processes late at night after everyone else has made themselves scarce. (In fact I recommend it, I mean, how can anyone reasonably expect to get any intense computing done on a timesharing mainframe when everyone else is logged in at the same time?) Just *please* remember to make yourself scarce as well when you are all finished! Otherwise it'll just sit there, wearing out the hard drives and wasting lots of electricity in the process.....
