Fantastic word game

Pea soup fog (or peanut butter fog, if you are a prospector at the North Pole) is what we have been having around here in the mornings, and what much of Portland has been having most of the day today.

[size=8pt]Or more accurately, "pea soup SMOG." We are in the middle of a huge thermal inversion right now, so naturally all the particulate-matter pollutants settle to the ground and the sky turns to mud.

When I was at one of my favourite view points just outside of SE Vancouver today (~1/4 mile north of the Columbia, ~40 feet above river level) , looking directly south, much of that part of Oregon was only visible as shadows behind a nice haze. The west hills were completely invisible and the control tower at PDX was just a shadow. Looking to the east (past Troutdale and Gresham) was even weirder, as the sky was a rather brownish-orange hue just above the distant hills.

This was at about 1600 PST this afternoon.

Most of the day today the fog has hung on, it tried to burn off and I did see the sun for about 30 minutes today and now we are socked in again, and now I can barley see the house across the street.

I can barley see the house across the street because the snow banks on either side of our road are now nearly as tall as me thanks to yet another snow storm that blew in last night.

When Olivia Newton-John pops in, quad gets all giddy and no TPS Reports get done.

So if your paycheck arrives late some weeks, it's quad's fault.

I couldn't post here at all the last two days and, last night, all of yesterday's posts that I see now weren't there at all. ???

No TPS Reports get done when quad has more...shall we say, "pressing" matters to attend to but that's OK because when those matters involve Olivia Newton-John, it's easy to get distracted.

I was able to post early this morning but then, all posts of the last 2 days disappeared for several hours again. I know there are occasionally maintenance issues and technical glitches but I've never seen this problem happen before. I'm sure the wonderful folks behind the scenes are doin' their best to get 'er fixed.

I can barely see the house across the street because it's after midnight (0102 PST as I write this), the fog is slowly making its way north, and the street-lamp is burnt out.

[size=8pt]And it's been that way since about June. I don't think the city will ever get off their a$$ and fix it. The area's unfortunately starting to become a popular area with substances deallers....

N.B.-- I had originally posted this earlier this morning (about 0102 as noted above) and it was up here for a short while, then the server farted again about ten minutes later and everything post-page 1631 suddenly disappeared. Upon returning now, I see that my original post is still M.I.A. What exactly is going on with the server, anyways? Still running Window$?

The street-lamp is burnt out and so apparently is the R-I server because quite a few contributions keep disappearing so I suggest we take a break for a day or three until all problems are corrected.

Perhaps a weekend break is in order. ???

My effort to post during this temporary difficulty time is not easy, but we got to do what we can do.

My post last night appeared twice, the second was it the quote box, and pages 1631, 1632, and 1633 would come and go every time I checked. but
I'm sure Radio-Info will get us totally back on the air soon.

Where dmargalotti is this late in the morning is a good question and one wonders if he is having posting difficulties or perhaps he decided to sleep in.

Or maybe he really did make his Early Morning Contribution and it disappeared. We may never know.

His early-morning post was in fact not made but I am proud to say that I am here now with what we can call an early afternoon contribution.

Sorry to let you all down but I had some pressing personal business to attend to. Let me know if you need a note from my mother or something, thanks!

An early-afternoon contribution will have to suffice from me, because I, too, had some pressing business to attend to this morning (my job) but then again, pretty much all my posts typically start coming in during the early afternoon.

[size=8pt]@kenrayc--

Yeah, I saw that. Wondered if you had hit the wrong key or something!

Pretty much all my posts typically start coming in during the early afternoon if you consider the fact that because of time zone differences, it's bound to be the afternoon someplace in the world whenever I post.

Whenever I post, I hope that it won't magically disappear.

I noticed that right now we are up to page 1634, earlier today, today's and yesterday's posts were there, but Wednesday's posts were missing.

Magically disappear too often, and you won't keep your job for long, unless you're a leprechaun.

I kind of missed ya this morning, dmargalotti. But it helped to just hear your name, even if I had to say it myself. ;D

A leprechaun must have slightly tilted the rainbow, because the first person we asked for help with moving furniture for the library showed up with a stripped down parade float and took care of it for us.

Yep, that was us rolling down the turnpike
