Fantastic word game

More power to themfor trying to attract people to that now defunct amusement park near Windsor, Ontario but perhaps they would still be in business today if their marketing efforts had a different spokesperson as the face of the organization such as Yahoo Serious.

I know you thought I was working my way toward a Megan McCormick reference but I thought I would drop in an obscure 80's reference instead.

A witty, poignant and touching Megan McCormick reference is usually my first choice for replying but for some odd reason I was having a weird 80's flashback and I don't think Megan McCormick was even born yet back then.

Thursday through Saturday sometime in 1987 was probably the peak of his popularity here in the States but I understand he's a much bigger name back home in his native Australia.

Back home in his native Australia, he also probably gets to hear more often about Olivia Newton-John than most people in the States do, except for those of us at the FWG who appreciate the finer things.

International boundaries often have similar names, so when you are hearing the weather, you have to check which state that local town is in.

Without electricity our satellite campus in Connecticut would have no connectivity into the rest of WGNET, but fortunately their computer centre is also on a generator.

[size=8pt]I was still able to get out to them on the VAX and get their status report. Everything still seems functional over there.

Saying of VAXen, our cutover to the new system in room 130/141 is pretty much complete. Everything is in place and the cutover last Sunday was intended to be mostly transparent, except the UUCP paths are now way shorter and easier to remember because of the simpler way we have things interconnected. So you'll need to update your Rolodex cards to the new path: !wgzoo!guvax!{user}. Everyone who was on !power-world-03!fwguncvxcc!fwgdxccl! before is now on Guvax. (Incidentally, "guvax" is ROT-13 code for "think"; a highly appropriate name for a University computer system, wouldn't you guvax?) The PDP-10 was also moved to !wgzoo!dxlpdpx!.

Also, I think the "Darth_Vader Whack-Out Threat" has mostly let up, but I'm still going to try to keep a low profile on here for a while.

Here on radio-info.com you'll find the usual melange of crackpot suggestions and fly-by-night users, as is endemic to any bulletin board and Usenet, but it's doubtful that you'll find a thread elsewhere on the HTTP-or NNTP-based Internets with the longevity of the FWG.

[size=8pt]Forgot to mention, there will be an "impromptu" open house in the "new" University computer centre on Wednesday. Come on over and see what we've been up to these last few weeks.

The longevity of the FWG is beyond compare even to a day of shopping in old Georgetown before heading on up to Aunt Mildred's sunny backyard BBQ in Milford, or even flying a kite at the annual PowerWorld competition in the lea high atop the white cliffs of Dover.

Naturally, as the director of fun, it is my duty to inform the music committee of the little get together for the impromptu opening of the University computer center on Hump Day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xToFOzD0M8E&feature=related but we shall need a few feet of bridge.

The early disco days and every disco day after that were really not about music for some of us, but the best dance talent at Studio 54.

One thing you have to say for disco was that the routine practice kept us out of jackpots, and the dance floor soft chiffons flowed nicely in dance aerials. You are hard put to find people who know how to hold or carry themselves when dancing...if they even know how to dance these days.

To be desired, a contribution needs to be well written, well punctuated, and it needs to be succinct and to the point without going overboard.
