Fantastic word game

When my kids were little, I used to make them available for children's parties when the parents decided to splurge and have a petting zoo brought to their front yard, but since the kids grew up into billy goats and started acting belligerently, I decided to just keep them as pets and not let them be around other people, but everything worked out because, although I no longer have the income from the petting zoo, I save a lot of money because the goats eat grass and I don't have to pay a gardener to mow the lawn.

If WMC ever starts paying us by the word, I'll be rich! :D

Mow the lawn - Wasn't he the guy who ran the landscape shop down the street that was actually a front for the mob?

Not to be confused with Moe and the the Lawn which probably isn't a real band but should be.

BTW LARR: Not to get all pedantic but you may want to look into the proper use of comma vs. semicolon.

A front for the mob dropped by my corner office today and told me to remind all of you to please pay attention to all grammatical rules and regulations including punctuation, spelling, sentence structure, verb tense, and the all important dangling participle.

The mob guy cares about me. He doesn't want to see my head explode when people (*cough* Basnya* cough*) leave a contribution that could have been better written like this: Wasn't that Mow the lawn guy the one who ran the landscape shop down the street that was actually a front for the mob?

And, Basnya, ixnay on the semicolon thing. I'm trying to get people to STOP using semicolons because they just don't know how to use them properly. But you do have a point regarding LARR's use of commas. A comma isn't needed when you use the word 'but'. One replaces the other. However, I appreciate you saying something so everyone isn't constantly hearing just me say it. And having said that, I just think LARR is out to create his own rules of punctuation and grammar anyway. ;)

Punctuation, spelling, sentence structure, verb tense, and the all important dangling participle go out the window from time to time, and as long as Basnya and LARR don't get overly creative with their personal stylistics, the FWG (or TFWG as some prefer) will make it.

The FWG (or TFWG as some prefer) will make it to our goal of 10,000 pages some day with lots of hard work, dedication, and frequent contributions from posters like you.

Posters like you are always welcome to The Fantastic Word Game (TFWG as everyone prefers) as long as you don't mind occasional reminders of the rules from your friendly Game Czar.

Speaking of whom, your friendly Game Czar is working today in real life, heading out the door momentarily, but I expect everyone to be on their best weekend behavior during the day today. And we'll see you tonight at Illusions for Dave & Kenny's 80s Rockfest. We thank you very much. ;D

An oxygenated moron is the technical term for an airhead.

By the way, my use of commas is within the rules of grammar: a comma can precede the word that comes before "but" when it separates two unrelated sentences or when the word "but" and the comma are standing in for the word "however." But I'm not trying to make my own rules, so, if you people, here, on this thread, don't want me to overdo my use of commas, then I won't use them, as often, but, only when necessary.

That last sentence was what you might call my "last hurrah."
:D

An airhead once tried to open his own TFWG band camp location but dmargalotti was able to stop him from muscling in on his territory.

Because nobody opens band camp locations quite like dmargalotti.

You leaving us, LARR?

At a given time of day, you can find LARR proofreading his upcoming contributions by adding in commas anywhere he feels like it.

A street corner style doo-wop song would be good for me only if it were performed by Olivia Newton-John.

scanman, you probably mean 'serenade'. I'm sure it was just a typo. And nice of me to correct you in front of the entire class. ;D

If it were performed by Olivia Newton-John, it would go straight to the top of the charts just as this thread is going straight to the top of the Off The Air board.

Yeziknoradio does his best to keep knocking us down. We gotta beat him at his own game. ;)

The "post" button is necessary to record your contribution which allows to to move further along on our all important quest to Page 10,000 (P10000 as most prefer).

Our all important quest to Page 10,000 (P10000 as most prefer) is going to include many contributions from yours truly (YT as probably nobody prefers), although I will strive to use fewer commas since certain people here object to what they feel is unnecessary use of them and I don't want to induce anyone's grammar-related disgruntlement because I think we would all be much happier if everyone here remains gruntled.
