Fantastic word game

Paris, Texas, wasn't mentioned in George Jones and Tammy Wynette's "(We're Not) The Jet Set," but Paris, Tennessee, was, along with Rome, Georgia, and Athens, Texas.

"Oh, we're not the jet set. We're the old Chev-ro-let [rhymes with "met"] set."

Athens, Texas has nothing to do with the other one, except that the burger joints there fry their food in ancient Greece.

Lots of tourists have gone to Paris to get an eiffel of that tower. (Among other things...)
 
WMC was the exclusive "good ol' boys" club that was founded by George W. Bush, George M. Cohan and George C. Scott.

I didn't even have to work for that one---it just popped into my lil' brain like magic! Now I suppose I have to wait for Jeff to make a pun about "George E. Girl." :)
 
George C. Scott was one-half of the old Kenny & Dave's 1880's Rockfest, which preceded Dave & Kenny because Kenny is way older than me.
 
Kenny is way older than me, and I feel justified in making that claim because when I talk about getting a 45, he immediately thinks of a phonograph record instead of a pistol.
 
Another Hump Day (HD as most prefer) does not necessarily mean a day most people prefer to listen to HD radio.

I always thought Plaster of Paris was a dress designer...
 
HD Radio is a trademark of iBiquity, whose marketing, licensing and distribution of the HD Radio technology have been doomed by its stupidity and greed.

As I work a Sunday-Thursday week, my Hump Day is Tuesday. And yes, tomorrow I'll be saying "TGIT!"

Friends, according to Thoreau, should be sufficient that you can count them on your thumbnail and your affairs as only one or two, in his discussion of simplicity.

Just think of the grammar and English usage of the days of Thoreau and today. Today, you say "affair" and either get gasps or pats on the back. In Thoreau's day the term meant something quite different indeed.
 
Simplicity has been the largest manufacturer of dress patterns since 1927 and I thought I would surprise my wife by buying a pattern and making a dress for her, but the task was a lot more difficult than I thought it would be, so I wound up taping the pattern pieces together and telling her that I made her a paper dress.

She wore it only once and then it all came apart when we tried to wash it in the washing machine.
 
A paper dress once worn by The Lovely Olivia is on display in the foyer of the main building but no one is really sure why.

We keep it there because Olivia stops by to check it out on her occasional visits to band camp and anything that brings Olivia to the main building is worth keeping.
 
Show betting is something newcomers to horse racing often do because your horse doesn't have to win for you to be a winner, but that won't make you rich, becuase the payoff for finishing third is much less than for finishing first.
