Fantastic word game

On the field tonight in Santa Clara will be The San Diego Chargers playing The San Francisco 49ers which only The Chargers are still alive for the playoffs.

I'm getting ready to rock tonight at Illusions, we're doing our special Christmas program, but it will not be all Christmas music like some stations do from Halloween to Christmas.

For the playoffs I may take a drive to I don't care land.

I don't care land is a place, usually in the mountain, that I go to get away from everything.

Happy Sunday everyone!!! Where is everybody?

To get away from everything maybe I should stop posting here, because I feel like I brought the game to a screeching halt.

I brought the game to a screeching halt because I forgot the Fantastic Word Game's (TFWG's as Miss Silkie knows I prefer) anniversary.

Kenny, I think everybody is so shocked to see you posting so much at once, they didn't know what to do. ;) It's almost as if you, dmargalotti and quad were right there all at once like old times. ;)

So, hey, gang, I'm really embarrassed. I'm always on top of something like this, it's something I look forward to every single year and I completely forgot. December 3rd was the 8th anniversary of the Fantastic Word Game!! I can't believe I forgot. But, then again, it ain't what it used to be here, is it. quad is long gone; dmargalotti might as well be long gone; and even I'm not contributing quite as much as I used to. Shame on me.

Nevertheless, I would very much like to wish a happy 8th anniversary to everyone. I'd like to thank all contributors past and present and I'd like to thank all regimes of Radio-Info and Radio Discussions past and present.

Let's keep on keepin' on.

Also, we'll have our customary band camp Christmas feast at the main band camp Thursday from 11am to 3pm. There will be no band campers present this year unless you feel like bringing your own. All PowerWorld associates are invited and welcome. Workwise, PowerWorld shuts down at 3pm on Wednesday and is closed Thursday. The entire campus is open on Friday for those who aren't taking personal/vacation days.

The Fantastic Word Game's (TFWG's as Miss Silkie knows I prefer) anniversary was duly noted by yours truly, though I do believe it blew by you all (or is that blue bayou?), which means that we need to be extra nice to the interns for keeping track in the library's index card filing system.

Yep, even the moderators and managers missed it. They were waiting around at the airport when the ship came in.

The library's index card filing system will be my next stop so I can make some notes for my office so I don't forget the anniversary next year.

Miss Silkie, I backtracked a few days and saw no mention from you of the anniversary. Where did I miss it?

Next year, we will all eagerly look forward to what we will later know as nostalgia.

Johnny Carson's Christmas Fruitcake Theory: "There is only one Christmas fruitcake in the world. Every year, someone gets it, re-wraps it, and sends it to someone else." (Unfortunately, this is now only one of millions of fruitcake theories on the Internet. Including some around here.)

Nostalgia of a confusing sort is evoked by Dan Fogelberg's "Same Old Lang Syne," which, while it ends with a saxophone playing "Auld Lang Syne," a tune associated with New Year's Eve, describes a chance Christmas Eve encounter with an old lover.

An old lover of Miss Silkie's creations, I thoroughly enjoyed my Christmas Eve visit to Miss Silkie's Tasty Tidbits.

Merry Christmas everyone! Feast starts promptly at 11am at the main band camp. My sources have informed me that we will be entertained by the Lovely Young Library Interns Choir (LYLIC as most prefer).

My Christmas Eve visit to Miss Silkie's Tasty Tidbits was one of the best ever so I highly recommend that all PowerWorld associates plan a visit for next year.

But not everyone at once. ;)

A visit for next year is on the agenda, as it has been for the past few years, so Lord willing we will have another lovely feast.

We will have another lovely feast next Christmas but don't forget about the New Year's Eve feast we'll be enjoying in a few days.

The current year disappeared to the tune of "Auld Lang Syne," just as many others have.

And may your new year be happy and preposterous--I mean prosperous!

Many others have always enjoyed ringing in the New Year but I just tinkle and go to bed.

Cute, eh? And did anyone miss me? My wife and I just got back from Bellingham, Washington, where we spent Christmas with her family. I wanted snow. There was no snow. There were two days of light rain...but no snow. Rats!

Go to bed before midnight on December 31st and you'll miss the big ball drop.

I missed you, LARR. You weren't here, Jeff wasn't here, CT wasn't here. It was pretty much just myself and Miss Silkie and occasionally it was just myself and the lovely young library interns!

The big ball drop at Times Square in New York has taken place every New Year's Eve since 1907, except for 1942 and 1943 when wartime blackouts were in effect, although I think that the Germans and Japanese probably knew where New York was, even without seeing all the lights of the ball.

A sentence and a Fun Factoid. How nice!

The ball will signal the start of the new year and then I'll probably just head to bed.

The campus officially shuts down at 3pm Thursday afternoon although I've been informed that some PowerWorld associates have asked to stay later. I've also been informed that some associates will be working the holiday and taking Friday off instead. The cafeteria will be closed so those folks need to bring their own lunches or, perhaps, visit Miss Silkie's shoppe as she is always open.

I'll probably just head to bed if no one bothers to come by here this afternoon or this evening to give me a new year hug.
