Fantastic word game

Speedos and tank tops are for the beautiful people, who usually have no idea how hideous they are in the thoughts of the humongous majority of people; while band camp boys usually wear their cut-off jeans to the swimming hole and swing from the tire in the tree, unless their parents sent them with a new pair of trunks, in which case they cut off a pair of jeans for swimming, and leave the swim trunks in a duffel bag.

Beyond that we let the other camps complain about our little commoners, and we take no position, figuring our commoners might very well get it from time to time.

Whatever that is, it most definitely is not a mouse because no mouse makes such a loud roaring sound, and now I'm afraid to open the kitchen door so I can find out exactly what kind of creature has been caught in the mousetrap I set out last night.

Today's Fun Factoid: Duffel is a town in north central Belgium. The heavy woolen cloth used in overcoats and various types of luggage was first manufactured in Duffel around 1670. The earliest known usage of the term "duffel bag" appears in a 1917 letter written by e.e. cummings.

The mousetrap I set out last night has a winter coat, pointy ears, four paws and whiskers, but she stays in and sets us out, just like The Flintstones, if there is ever the slightest inkling that she might have to fend for herself.

If there is ever the slightest inkling that she might have to fend for herself, Miss Silkie's cat hides in the basement for two days while Miss Silkie frantically searches for her, and then the cat finally reappears, knowing that Miss Silkie will be pampering her for at least another week.

Memo to Jeff: Please, no Pampers jokes. Thank you.

Another week has arrived with the core group of us intact along with a visit or two from Kenny who had a great set Saturday night at Illusions along with a little help from a friend.

That friend was me, of course. But I haven't heard anything yet about whether he might rename the Rockfest to Kenny and WMC's 80s Rockfest (since Dave seems to have permanently dumped us).

And with dmargalotti gone (or at the very least on temporarily permanent sabattical), I, as Game Czar, will take over for the time being as International Director of Band Camp (IDBC as most prefer) and also as Director of Early Morning Contributions. If anyone is interested in taking over either or both of these very important positions, let us know.

A little help from a friend and some block and tackle action would get two of our band campers at Yosemite to the top of El Capitan sooner than doing it fair 'n square, but their reward awaits in the form balm from the hard climb and free views of the horsetail firefall for a year from the grand hotel near the site. .

Looks like WMC has been working so hard he overslept and didn't get the early morning contribution in. Not as easy as it looks, huh?

The grand hotel near the site of PowerWorld headquarters has never been filled to more than 10% of capacity after word got around that it was called a "grand hotel" because a single night's stay cost a grand.

Motel 6 originally charged $6 a night. Super 8 Motels charged $8 a night. If they were honest, they'd now be known as Motel $54.99 and Super $59.99.

A grand time was had by all at last year's Valentine Dance so we've decided to do it again this year.

Miss Silkie, I merely said I'd take over as Director of EMCs. I never said I'd be contributing them. ;)

Do it again this year sounds almost like a Beach Boys tune, but everyone knows that it is certainly not, because it refers to the annual Valentine's Day Dance, which may be observed on different dates in different parts of the world, which will keep our new IDBC dancing more like St. Vitus than Geoffrey Chaucer.

Geoffrey Chaucer had no saucer for his cup of tea so Chaucer got a saucer from the cupboard because he knew Mrs. Chaucer would not like being asked to get a saucer for Chaucer and he didn't want to boss 'er.

After Troilus and Criseyde got married, Troilus often found himself in the same situation. :)

He didn't want to boss 'er, so he cruised in to the library for information about the elusive Monte Carlo Film Festival, which has previously come in conjunction with other films, and now comes ahead of certain other band camp events.

Certain other band camp events besides the annual Piccolo, Kazoo & Ocarina Concert will be open to participants of all ages this year because we learned last year that allowing only five- and six-year-olds to perform in the Tuba Concert was not the best idea, since three of the children could not lift their tubas and a fourth child fell into his tuba and got stuck.

Stuck inside a tuba sounds very uncomfortable so we recommend a smaller instrument or perhaps to install some heavy duty netting over the tuba opening to discourage falling in.

They say "Yay, it's payday!" and then, after they get their pay, Ray and Gray and Fay make their way to the karaoke bar where they start singing along with Say Say Say, Lazy Day, If I May, Dock Of The Bay and Walk This Way.

"Walk This Way" is a song recorded by Areosmith in the 70s, then in 1987 it was remade, with the help of Areosmith,by the Rap group Run DMC.

Tomorrow night it will be Rockfest at Illusions as usual, but Dave seem to have disappeared, so WMC will join me again this week, and yes WMC we should call the show The Kenny and WMC Rockfest.

Run DMC just might be played at Illusions Saturday night but we haven't quite decided on the playlist yet.

So , Kenny, are we dumping the 80s theme and going rock in general? I really like the 80s theme but maybe it's time to branch out.

Yet to hear from Kenny in this forum, I'll talk to him at Illusions in a couple of hours.

Come on down to Illusions tonight, folks, and catch some of the greatest 80s (and maybe other years too) rock. I hear there might be a special appearance from MarcB, his mom, and Cockroach.

A couple of hours went by and I was finally starting to realize that the lovely Miss Moxie Cowznofski had no intention of showing up for our date and I would wind up attending the Monster Track Rally all by myself.

I was going to show her that several of the trucks have the Terra tires that are also used on fertilizer spreaders. Oh well...it's her loss!
