Fantastic word game

[That particular day[/b] came and went so I waited for another particular day to come and go but, before I knew it, it came and went also.

"This Day of Days" sounds like the title of an old-time radio soap opera, but it isn't.

Do termites eat wood twice as fast while listening to rock music? Apparently yes! This factoid has been subject to debate about its authenticity, but the source is apparently legit enough; an Associated Press story from 1968, which may be seen here as published in the Miami News: https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=vUE0AAAAIBAJ&sjid=YOsFAAAAIBAJ&pg=637,952744&hl=en

Not only does metal give them the munchies, but when threatened, they bang their heads against their nest to create warning vibrations! http://insects.about.com/od/termites/a/10-Cool-Facts-About-Termites.htm

Any "classic-rock" types out there with termite trouble? Well, it's your own fault!

It isn't that I don't want to be here but a computer issue kept me from my appointed rounds.

But I'm here now and I'm always watching.

My appointed rounds include making sure that the very savvy library interns have put on display anything and everything to do with Easter this weekend.

This weekend I plan to share an ice cream sundae with Tuesday Weld and Sgt. Joe Friday while listening to music by the Happy Mondays.

What a fun time Mrs. LARR and I had at Walt Disney World! I wish we could have stayed longer. We saw the Fantasmic show and the IllumiNations show and rode the new Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, which has the most amazing audioanimatronic figures of any Disney attraction. Their eyes and mouths move so realistically, one would think the Dwarfs are real people!

Happy Mondays usually follow pleasant weekends, and I hope this Easter weekend will be one of them.

Welcome back, LARR! Hope you liked the factoids I posted during your vacation, though I admit they tended to run on in length. Just couldn't resist the items about the guy who mailed a whole building parcel post a crate at a time, or the head-banging metal-maniac termites. OK, Maestro, take over.

One of them with a name that was also a day of the week was omitted from my post, and I apologize for the slight to Wednesday Addams of The Addams Family.

Today's Fun Factoid: Macabre New Yorker cartoonist Charles Addams did not have names for his characters. He had to create names when the television series was in development. Wednesday (whose middle name was Friday) was named after the line "Wednesday's child is full of woe" from the 1938 British nursery rhyme Monday's Child. Lurch, the butler, was originally going to be silent but actor Ted Cassidy ad-libbed the deep-voiced drawn-out line "You rang?" during a rehearsal and the producers decided to let Lurch speak. The Addams Family's address was 0001 Cemetery Lane.

The Addams Family is not a topic on which to get the librarian started, except occasionally extending my arm to Sweetie Pie when I think about it.

When I think about it, LARR's time away seemed to pass by really quickly(10 days already) but then I realize that JeffM only posted maybe 2 fun factoids during that stretch of time.

Welcome back LARR. Jeff did a fine job but he was instructed initially to post a fun factoid every 3rd day or so so he really could have come up with another one (maybe even two!) if he put his mind to it. Look like the Fun Factoids will stay under your administration.

By the way, I'm here as the original me, WMC2005, because the newer me, WMC2006, couldn't log in. But I'm the still the same happy go lucky Game Czar you all know and love.

That stretch of time really stretched on and on.

Truth to tell, I had more factoids ready to go, but with LARR out of action, there were far fewer posts than usual and fewer opportunities to jump in with something. For whatever it's worth: In Kentucky, it's illegal to carry ice cream in your back pocket. Grapes explode when you try to cook them in a microwave oven. (Wonder how they discovered that?) The Greek national anthem has 158 verses. (Hey, it's a really old country...)

On and on we go with fewer contributors but with more resolve and determination.

You're right, Jeff, it kind of died here the moment LARR left. Hard to believe we are so dependent on puns. I'm gonna send a message to scanman and try to get him back.

Resolve and determination was key to crossing the loose rock/scree fields on the Ancient Lakes trail near Quincy, WA, where I was rewarded with an upclose view of an astonishing waterfall.

I'm back! Hopefully for a few more posts.
And if you are wondering about these so called Ancient Lakes: http://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/ancient-lakes

An astonishing waterfall in Canada became completely frozen over during last month's "Arctic blast" snowstorm and turned into hundreds of thousands of icicles and then when the icicles began to melt and pop off, they turned into popsicles.

And Mister WMC actually misses my puns when I'm not here? I don't know if I should feel flattered for myself...or sorry for him. :)

An astonishing waterfall is what usually happened when Laurel and Hardy stepped off a curb into a puddle and Ollie would sink in over his head.

Not to disparage any other contributors, it does seem that LARR is "the straw that stirs the drink" on this forum; I hope more folks do get involved, the more the merrier...and the easier!

Uh-oh...look what just happened.

Over his head and against his face is where I threw the small mountain of discarded puns from LARR because Miss Silkie is tired of picking after him.

On the plus side, most of the snow is gone. Now we need the temps to head north and stay there for awhile...say about 5 months.

Crainy, nice to see you!! I've reached out to yourself, scanman, DToTheJ, and Kenny about coming back for some guest appearances. I hope you all come back frequently.

LARR, it's not so much that I missed your puns but I missed you. I know....Awwwwww!

And the rocking is about to start at Illusions as Kenny and I rev up the 80s. Hopefully, Kenny stops by here when we're done.

Picking up after him with this contribution is my way of saying "Hello, I'm back"!

Well, it's been a little while since my last visit here. Since WMC was kind enough to personally invite me back to this fine little game, here I am!

I'm back!", exclaimed Scanman, and I might add not a minute too soon, given the hectic weekend we had around Band Camp with two simultaneous holidays and a quadrillion kiddies everywhere.

"Everywhere" is a song by Fleetwood Mac from the late 80s with Christine McVie doing the vocals.
