When Michael Jackson died they made an announcement about his death over the speakers at an amusement park.
True story. A friend of mine and I were talking about our plans to go this amusement park this summer and he told me he was there with some friends in 10th grade the day Michael Jackson passed away.

Amusement park job shifts for all full and part time employees begin Memorial Day weekend.
Memorial Day weekend is a time of remembrance and celebration, a time of silences and parades, and a time when dignitaries reflect and pay respect in places where the ultimate sacrifice was made by more than one brave and courageous soul who refused to tolerate evil and oppression, dignitaries who make us proud with our heads held high when we see them in attendance on those sites of great battles, anguish, mourning and blessed memory in history.

In history class this morning, we had a quiz on the Battle of Hastings and I think I was the only one who remembered it happened in the year 1066.
In the year 1066, there were no band camps or any kind of camp programs at all for children because back then instead of taking time to learn and play, they were busy working the fields or earning their keep.

Quite often, I wonder if being the International Band Camp Director is really what I want to do for the rest of my life.
Don't get me wrong, it's a great job and I love the people I work with and the kids are awesome. Well, most of them anyway. Maybe I'm having a midlife crisis, maybe it has something to do with the fact that the lovely Olivia won't return my calls or respond to my emails. I don't know. It just seems like there should be something more in my life at this age.

But I'll let him make the decision himself. I'm still in charge through Saturday afternoon. I'll be gone (although still popping in) through the following Saturday.
