The weekend of Labor Day is upon us, which makes this the perfect opportunity for the purple one to wish everyone a safe holiday, whether your plans are to stay close to home, or include laying some rubber down on a long, open stretch of road.

Edit to add: I'm such a Southerner. Root beer and vanilla ice cream is just a standard "root beer float" down here. I've never heard it called a "black cow" before, Miss Silkie.

A long, open stretch of road through the Mojave Desert can usually be driven in about a day if that open stretch is the main highway where you can find a few places to stop along the way, including one of PowerWorld's very own desert oases.
 
The repair shop was a place our friend, Darth, avoided by always having plenty of spare parts for his bicycle.
 
Having plenty of spare parts for his bicycle came in very handy after hitting that large pothole in the asphalt, resulting in Darth flying over the handlebars, bending his front wheel in half, and leaving him with a badly skinned knee.
 
A badly skinned knee would certainly put a damper on our weekend so we'll make sure to be careful with our movements and actions over the long holiday weekend.

Last minute details are ongoing as we prepare to open the band camp gates Friday morning. However, at our band camp locations in Florida, we are already open for residents who may need to evacuate as Hurricane Hermine barrels through the state. Our band camp locations along the entire eastern seaboard are on standby as needed.
 
Beach parties, backyard BBQ's, and beer were all on the agenda for this weekend, but the beer might be the only thing that survives the list along the eastern seaboard.
 
The eastern seaboard would like to enjoy a long holiday but may be interrupted by a hurricane or tropical storm so it might be best instead to head to the western seaboard.

But not before we head to the new Illusions Saturday night to party like it's the 80s with Dave, Kenny and myself.
 
The western seaboard is warm and dry, at least the southern part in California, and there's no rain in sight.

During the next few days, I along with many members of the Executive Board will be visiting our band camp locations in the southeast and the eastern seaboard to make sure all hurricane-affected areas are able to service all residents who need assistance.

Thanks to all PowerWorld volunteers who are assisting with the fall session move-in at our main band camp and our other band camps in our absence.
 
Hosting TFWG (the FWG as the interns and I prefer) is no small feat, although playing anything by Little Feat at the Saturday Night 80s Rockfest at Illusions might present a bit of a challenge, unless it is from their greatest hits album.
