Fantastic word game

Long lasting memories and an overwhelming eagerness to return is how and why band camp alumnus and their little band campers return year after year.

Welcome back Harsh. I think you are the only one left to return after the brief shutdown a week ago.

Some time during this decade dmargalotti will return to find that the site is back up and running, but in the meantime maybe we should keep track of our post number and the post, so that we can just keep it rolling as I did at our other location.

The Fantastic Word Game (or TFWG, as some prefer) was going for a 1 year span or two on another sight and was affectionately known as TFWG2.

Harsh, a couple of years ago when RadioDiscussions first shut down, and we had no idea if it was coming back, we started TFWG2 at another sight. We kept it going after the RD boards came back but, over time, visitation to TFWG2 decreased more and more, even from me, especially since that site was way slow on my laptop. Sadly, with much pain in my heart, after Silkie and I were the last two standing over there, and then finally I was the last one standing, I abandoned TFWG2 except for an anniversary reminder in December. It was started by darth on Dec 3rd, 2013 and it ran for 92 pages until last June's abandonment. I just checked and there have been two recent contributions, one from Darth and one from Silkie. Not sure I can mention the name of that site without it being censored but it also deals in 'radio' and provides much 'insight' into the industry just as this one does. Feel free to visit TFWG2 if you can find your way.

Miss Silkie, dmargalotti has been with us since the boards came back up so he knows we're back. He tends to take weekends off (odd for an International Director of Band Camp) but it is definitely odd that he wasn't here today. He tends to go on vacation without telling anyone (even odder for an International Director of Band Camp) and prefers to adjust his TPS Reports after the fact. So perhaps he took a long weekend, perhaps he is on vacation, I have no doubt we'll see him soon.

TFWG2 was a good diversion for awhile until TFWG and Radio Discussions came back and then, one by one, traffic declined over there.

Off to Florida today. Miss Silkie, you're in charge.

Traffic declined over there, so we keep party supplies there, and occasionally use the ballroom for various important functions like a finger painting competition, since I have been left in charge, and since there are plenty of smocks, tarps and vinyl tablecloths on hand.

Don't worry about a thing WMC. The new interns will be there too, so what could possibly go wrong dealing with a bunch of 4 year olds, rolls of finger paint paper and lots and lots of jars of paint? It isn't like we took a notion to take them all to a ballgame to sit in the VIP seats while their parents are in the bleachers, which has been known to happen.

Since there are plenty of smocks, tarps and vinyl tablecloths on hand, face painting and finger painting will once again be held at our Founder's Day Family Picnic (FDFP as most people commonly refer to it) scheduled for the 1st weekend of August.

The 1st weekend of August will undoubtedly be hot and humid which should go really well with face painting and fingerpainting.

Hope it's waterproof/sweatproof paints. :D

The local zoning board comes under the heading Police Power, which is PowerWorld's inherent government right to regulate conduct or property to protect the health, safety, welfare, and morals of the community.

The community recognizes the value of our band camp programs plus they love the fact that it gets kids of the streets and involved in something positive so the old folks don't need to tell them to get off their lawns.

The old folks don't need to tell them to get off their lawns, because they know better than to trample the lawns and cut through the yards.

The yards are sunny and bright with just the right amount of shade but the porches are sunlit so seniors like Kenny and Dave can sit in their rocking chairs eating their oatmeal.

Or maybe they are planning the next 80s Rockfest.

Both of their loving wives sitting inside at the breakfast table resent the comparison to lumpy oatmeal and while I can't speak for Mrs. Kenny, I can tell you that you don't want to get on the wrong side of my better half.

The old ball and chain were hoisted by a new block and tackle before being attached to a boat and mooring shackle, beneath a mooring buoy which was attached to a mooring pennant, and those are the basics.

The basics of this game are indeed pretty much fictional as there really is no PowerWorld, no band camp, no TPS Reports, no topless driving, no Dave and no Kenny but there really is an Illusions, a Radio Discussions, and a real life Quest to 10,000 pages.

That quest is over 10 years old. Someday we'll get there. Someday.

A real life Quest to 10,000 pages would not even be thinkable, IMO, without the fictitious concepts, places and people referenced in the previous post.

Just dropped by to thank you for the clarifications. I know Illusions is real because I'm a central Connecticut guy, but I had no clue about the others, which is why I've been reluctant to post when the thread has drifted into band camp/PowerWorld/Dave and Kenny talk. Now I may contribute more often.

The previous post was Post #34698, this post is #34699, and the next post will most likely be the last post on this page.

Leading Kmart to ban it from all of their stores meant it could not be featured during one of the blue light specials that the store was known for back when they were actually one of the leading retail chains in the country.

JHey Harsh, I'm just having fun with you. As International Band Camp Director, it's my job to see what new guys like you are made of. We're good. But for the record, despite what WMC says, Kenny and I are real. Well at least I am. I think Kenny is because I see him on Facebook but I guess you never really know for sure, do you?
