A news radio station is expensive to program and has the problem of attracting older listeners, whom advertisers find too experienced and cynical to fall for their deceptive pitches.
Deceptive pitches make up about 90% of the daily calls that I receive.

1984 is a very great and descriptive book from George Orwell about how socialism can snowball into a dictatorship.
Yep, I remember those slogans vividly, and they are a good reminder of how bad things can get. I believe Orwell called that "doublespeak". Hopefully today's society will heed it's warnings.
A dictatorship can also result when a democracy is weak or under pressure from external forces beyond its control.
