Fantastic word game

"As the holiday season approaches" isn't usually used to begin sentences at this time of year, as no one really associates Groundhog Day with caroling or giving gifts.
 
Gifts are usually appreciated regardless of what time of the year they're given.

Was actually trying to edit that ending clue, after posting it, to say "as the Christmas season approaches" but encountered an error, so it had to remain as is.
 
The latter of the two terms is preferred by those who celebrate the season in worship of a skinny bearded man, rather than to worship the deeds of a fat bearded one.
 
in the spring, summer, winter, or fall, when finding yourself near Nashville, The Bearded Iris is a spectacular place to enjoy a cold brew.

rosecitymedia, welcome to the Fantastic Word Game (TFWG as I and the occasional Director of Fun prefer). I am WMC, your friendly Game Czar. We welcome you and hope you stay for a long time because we need all the help we can get to reach a zillion pages. We are getting there, at 2139 pages. We've been here since December 3, 2006 (so where the heck have YOU been? Hmmm?) and we consider ourselves the longest word and sentence writing game on the interwebs. We ask that you follow just a couple of simple rules. As your beginning clue, please use the entire bolded ending clue from the immediate previous contribution. Please bold your new ending clue. If you are unable to bold, we will accept CAPITAL LETTERS. Also, in memory of our dear departed friend Anyacat, we will accept a contribution in the form of a haiku (although no one has ever done that). Please italicize (or somehow differentiate) dialogue that is separate from the game contribution. Please do not post dialogue without including a contribution. It screws up the numbers. We hate it when our numbers get screwed.

Looks like 2 contributions were offered back to back, causing 2 end clues. I'm not sure if I've played this correctly, but in an effort not to disrupt game flow, this was the best approach I could conjure.
 
Downtown Kilgore Texas brings to mind a troupe of cheerleaders known as the Kilgore Rangerettes, who in the '70s and '80s were often featured at various sporting events.

Just create a sentence using the end clue of the last contribution you see and you should be fine, unless that sentence was posted in error and has no connection to the contribution before it.
 
Events such as the Cotton Bowl and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade have served as the backdrop for the Rangerettes to showcase their talents to a national audience.
 
A national audience for "TFWG" is the goal of WMC.
