Fantasy Radio Station To Go On Air

Here's a chance for you to be creative:

There are a number of proven talents in Atlanta that have been released, fired, laid off, retired etc.

If you were able to put a couple of stations on the air and you have this large pool of talent to choose from what would your on air line up look like? What would your fantasy station(s) sound like?

GO FOR IT!

Not that I have anything against those who are unemployed (as I myself am the same) but what might we gain if we tried something never done before? Besides, going with somebody that another station laid off simply means that they were not getting the numbers required to boost revenue and, isn't that what it's all about?

All right.. this may not work in the U.S. any longer for whatever reasons, but over here in Russia we have a station that hearkens back to the days of free-form FM. And I do mean free-form. Although there is a playlist, the jocks seem to have a great amount of control over what they play and when. This is the kind of station that will play Elvis, followed by the B-52's, and then segue into Sinatra, and follow that with James Brown. I love it. If I owned a station this is exactly the kind of programming I would do. Check it out online: http://www.roks.ru/ Web page is in Russian but Google does a reasonable job of translation.

No need to go all the way to Russia. Atlanta already has that format with the added bonus of bird calls at the top of the hour. Just tune in to 1690 WMLB, the voice of the arts.

How do you say Jack in Russian?

Well, if you say Jack, plus a Russian ending like -noff as in Sarnoff or Smirnoff, you get...

For the most part my fantasy radio station is already a reality online. Merge98FM. With an Extreme AC format, here's the lineup:

Becky "Buckwild" Johnston - Sundays at 2PM
The Alex Jones Show middays
Radio X - Wednesdays at 10PM
The Tin Can At Large (myself) - Thursdays at 7PM

There's a no nonsense promise in place: no crunk, no snap, no reggaeton, no novelty crap.

In fantasy land though, I would also add:
Friday night AC mixshows
O'Brien and Roach in the morning
Les (Brown, formerly of Magic 107.5) and Tracy (St. George, formerly of 94 and 100) in the afternoon.

What do you think?

6-9AM Easy Greezy Lil' Tommy Taylor and Sticky Fingers.(Of course- I star in my fantasy radio station)Everyones favorite prurient country/blues/southern rock with recently released from prison Easy Greezy and Sticky Fingers.
9-3PM Cow Pie Patti and the Patti-cake Puree Party. Breasts like the bumper bullets on a 56 Chevy. Really.....radio breasts. I kinda like the concept.
3-7PM Blind Ethnic Pig Iron with a blues blast. Get depressed on the way home so you can justify drinkin' bourbon or smokin' a fatty.
7-12MN [EDIT]
12MN-6AM I'm not sure what to do with overnights. Slutty interns wearing coldcuts? Iranian folk music? Polka?
I've thought about experimentation using radio waves for mind control. I once knew a lady who swore the station I engineered was causing her husband to sleepwalk and get in bed with the teenage daughter who lived next door. Or maybe like the "Outer Limits" episode where the station owner uses his signal to bring an extraterrestrial to earth.

[EDIT-vulgar content]
