So, this morning in the 5 AM hour, I was listening to WNCT's stream, and right in the middle of "Build Me Up Buttercup," I started to hear another audio source start piping in on top of the song, something called "The Southern Farm Network." Basically, farm and agricultural news. There was no liner or introduction to the report, so I assume automation had triggered it. Anyway, the report lasted twenty minutes or so. Music resumed at 5:30 AM with "Grease."
In looking at the station's playlist on Yes.com, I come to the conclusion that they apparently air a farm report every morning at 5:10 AM, and a full half-hour on Sundays, too. I would think it would be out of place for something like that to air on WNCT. Or maybe farming is so popular in the area that they don't mind carrying it. Still a weird arrangement in this day and age. I would imaging they are paying Beasley to air the report?
