I got this idea from another thread on the DX board.
I'm not talking about snagging a translator or an LPFM from 1000 miles away during an e-skip. But, what is the farthest away consistant LPFM or translator station you can hear in your area??
From Coldwater, MI:
I can hear W209BA 89.7 Kendallville, IN, a 10 watt translator (with a 400 foot tower) They are a hair under 40 miles away from my location.
W238AL 95.5 Portage, MI, a 175-watt translator (with a 120 foot tower) can be heard from here almost every day, sometimes with a fair signal. They are 36 miles away, but I have heard them from 50 miles away!
WMLY 93.1 Marshall, MI, a 100-watt LPFM can often be heard at my house 22 miles away from their tower. I've heard them from 30 miles out, and that seems to be about it for that station.
Most other area translators are next to impossible to hear from outside of a 30 mile radius.
