FASCINATING

I just heard something fascinating on the radio, and I'd love to present it to you all as my last topic on my last day of posting on Radio-Info. I'm listening to Elvis Duran show, who are currently broadcasting live from London, and on the show they mention how:

"The British LOVE American radio. They are fascinated with how radio is done in the states."

Now, two questions QUICKLY came to my mind:

"Are you serious?" and "WHY?"

I seriously don't know how this is possible because I don't even think the New York stations even compare to UK radio at all. I could understand - IF the UK didn't have stations of their own or the type of programming / formatting they have there now. When it comes to being unique, entertaining, having variety on certain formats, fun atmosphere, being open minded.....etc. on radio, I see NO COMPARISON, NONE WHATSOEVER. I've always had a fascination for radio and music, and I've only lived in the US, so of course I have a fascination with US stations. But, if I ever permanently moved across the pond, I don't think I'd even look back.

The best days of American terrestrial radio, especially more so in the hit music arena, pretty much ended when the 90's ended. To clarify, I'm not saying that everybody's horrible and unworthy of listening to here. I'm also not "hating" or saying I lost my love for radio. I'm simply saying that it's not what it used to be and not "worth the British hype" - in my opinion. I find it fascinating to know that somebody in the UK thinks American radio is more fascinating. That's just bollocks. I guess people believe the grass is always greener on the other side.

Anyway;
Enjoy your day folks, and have a Happy Thanksgiving & Merry Christmas! ;)
