I remember listening to Paul Gonzalez during the early 1990s on his syndicated show, when I lived in the Midwest.

Paul did have a good show. It wasn't political. Was conversational.

Where was he on in Tampa?

I first listened to Paul as a music DJ of WFLA, then as an afternoon talk show host. He is VERY entertaining and fun to listen to.

I later worked with him at the Peoples Radio Network.

He is here in town and I know he would build a large and loyal audience at 1040.

With all due respect, shouldn't talk radio be more than syndication and recycled talent?

Genesis has done nothing but hire market retreads, with less than enormous success.

What about that new talk talent -- someone today who is what David Gold was in '80 (not what he is now),
or Bob Lassiter in '85, or Sean Hannity in '88 in Huntsville Alabama, or Mark Larsen in '90? Why isn't Genesis looking under rocks for somebody like that?

This should be a rule of thumb for all people hiring, if the phrase "legendary" or "when he was here 10 years+ ago..." Move on and find someone else.

don't know if Brian Fasulo will talk about his radio gig, but he is scheduled to be on fox 13's lightning round on Friday night.

It is obvious he's gone with no notice. Whether or not it was his idea or not is what I'd like to know. Did he just get a hair and walk? Or was he shown the door?

The two people I spoke with close to the situation indicated he left on his own.
If WWBA had canned him, I imagine they would have had a backup plan for a substitute host. Their substitute hosts were on-the-fly and seemed all of the sudden.

I heard that Fasulo was scared to death of the 3 hour long talk show. He used to say on the air that he didn't know what to say for 3 straight hours. I heard he left because it was not working out. He did not like it. He was most comfortable doing interviews, but you can't do that for 3 hours. The Hannity audience rejected him from the last ratings.

Especially these hour-long studio visits by his former co-worker at Daytime, the jack-of-all-trades (master of none) Debra Schrills. Or the lifestyle expert, whatever her name is. Or some hanger-on from his HS days. It turned out to be 1/2 Daytime on radio, 1/2 benign commentary--a bad recipe.
