Faster Pitch on MeTV (WCMH-TV 4.2)?

Does anybody watch MeTV on WCMH-TV? It has fast become my favorite station, a vast improvement over RTV.

Since this is a radio board, I know in the old days they used to speed up the turntables to give the song a little more of a kick. Has anybody noticed that they also speed up the shows on MeTV? It's subtle, but I've noticed theme music and certain dialog that seems to go way too fast. I'm guessing this is to add more commercial time?

For some reason, I've been DVR-ing Cannon and you can hear the open speed up and slow right when the announcer starts talking. Tricky.

I don't get MeTV locally, but this might be on purpose.....indeed, more commercials air now than used to be, and either MeTV could edit out dialogue, speed up the sound (as is the case here), or, run it 5 to 10 minutes longer. (They *could* lessen the commercial time, buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut.....) :)

Glad to know this...looks to me like Antenna TV has chosen option 1 above and kept the sound the same.

I did away with cable in May and really enjoy MeTV and the two networks on 6.2. I didn't notice the speed up. The evening line up reminds me of when Nick at Nite was on. MASH, MTM, Dick Van Dyke, Newhart, Odd Couple and my three favorites, Cheers, Taxi and Twilight Zone.

Not being technical in the video relm, but I thought if a video clip needed to be shortened, they would would remove a certain number of frames per second to shorten the clip.

Audio is eaiser to work with. In Adobe audition you can strech or shorten really easy. We use it to get barter spots to 60s. They occassionally run long.

The only reason I still have cable is because of the news channels. If one of the stations would throw up some kind of a news channel, I would dump cable. I would miss the Buckeyes, but I'd get used to it. You would think this would be a good opportunity for CBS or ABC since they don't have viable news channels. Of course, they wouldn't be able to extract subscriber fees by being over the air.

Things I do miss: CNN, Fox, CNBC, msnbc although there are web streams for all but Fox. Just a pain to get them.

ESPN/Big 10 network coverage of OSU games although like above, I have sort of got used to it. I'm not a big sports nut to begin with so if I miss a game it's not a big deal. But if it's on and I'm home, I normally watch.

Honestly, I watched mostly old sitcoms and the wife watched the chick channels. MeTV sort of covers the old sitcoms and netflix has many of the old chick flicks and hulu streams many too.

I like Me-TV, too.  Unfortunately, according to their website Taxi is being replaced by That Girl.  They say that they "rest" shows occasionally, so it will likely be back at some point.

I spend some time each year in Chicago, which is Me-TV's hometown, and you get a double-dose of Me there because they also have a station called Me-Too.  Me-Too shows some of the same Me-TV shows, though different episodes and on a different schedule  But they also have some completely different stuff, including shows currently "rested" from Me (as Taxi will be soon).  Before they went national, Me-TV was 100% comedy, while Me-Too was all drama.  They had to dump that formula when Me-TV went national.

The show I wish Me-TV would put back on their schedule is  Green Acres.  A lot of people consider that one merely cornpone humor, but it actually had some great satire.  And Arnold the Pig, one of the best performers in the history of TV!

What about those old Lost In Space episodes from the 60s they are carrying on Me TV? Don't have cable and haven't seen those since the mid 80s
when I did a cable TV.

We darn. Hate to lose Taxi, but I guess shows will burn out if the don't rest them from time to time.

Green Acres streams on HULU. The CBS website has some Taxi episodes, but not all.

If forget who, but someone streams Lost in Space too.

I have said that Green Acres is one of those rare comedies that actually got funnier as it went along. It began as a more-close-to-the-vest rural comedies. The surrealness came along gradually.*

Sadly, only Seasons 1-3 are on DVD; no idea why they did not release the rest!

[*If the episode "The Beeping Rock" from 1970 is on Hulu, I recommend it highly!]

LOL! Yeah, the Beeping Rock, a Star is Born, Arnold inherits $30 Million from a pork producing king, Arnold witnesses a bank robbery, there are a ton of episodes that are about as funny as they get. The only show that comes close for being off the wall really is Seinfeld, but without the sleeping around with a new boyfriend/girlfriend every week.
