FATHER'S DAY EAST COAST FM SKIP

Some nice Father’s Day E-Skip along the East Coast brought 23 new FM logs to the Hudson Valley, including 17 from Florida. Here are the particulars.

First noted “regular“ “Joy-FM” (WJIS-88.1) at 10:36am, and heard a whole bunch of previously logged stations, like Way-FM (WAYF-88.1), Spanish WYUU-92.5, WFBX-94.5, WTNT-94.9, WQPW-95.7, and WBZE-98.9. Finally after nearly an hour, DX got stronger and I started snagging some new ones.

11:26am - WQXZ-98.3 Pinehurst, GA “Quicksie” with 2 spots mentioning Cordele (Ga), Weather Channel weather, and “Quicksie” slogan. 853 mi.

11:48am - WKCN-99.3 Lumpkin, GA “Kissin’ 99.3” spot for Village on 13th in Columbus. 898mi.

12:00n - WRGO-102.7 Cedar Key, FL “Fun 102.7” oldies, w/station ID. 1007mi.

12:00n - WXHT-102.7 Madison, FL “Hot 102.7“ “The Hit Music Channel” with Ryan Seacrest. 935mi.

12:23pm - WFUS-103.5 Bradenton, FL w/ auto spot for Tampa Bays area. 1072mi.

12:27pm - WMIB-103.5 Ft. Lauderdale, FL “The Beat”, w/spot in Coral Springs, mention of a Dade County Bash, and ID. 1150mi.

12:30pm - WKLG-102.1 Rock Harbor, FL, spot for Renaissance Antiques in Homestead. 1212mi.

12:37pm - WWGR-101.9 Ft. Meyers, FL “Gator Country” with listener phone-in Father’s Day request. 1148mi.

12:54pm - WTKS-104.1 Cocoa Beach, FL “Real Radio 104.1” w/ talk. 997mi.

1:00pm - WRPG-105.9 - Hawkinsville, GA, talk, Fox News Radio, 853mi.

1;03pm - WIFN-105.5 - Macon, GA “The Fan” with ESPN Radio. 810mi.

1:07pm - KKND-106.7 - Port Sulphur, LA “New Rockin’ Country” with NASCAR. A bit removed from the other DX today, but I’ll take it! 1211mi.

1:25pm - WPFM-107.9 - Panama City, FL “The New #1 Hit Music Station”, and my 5th Florida on this channel since 2003. 1012mi.

1:27pm - WASJ-105.1 - Panama City Beach, FL, smooth jazz, 1039mi.

1:41pm - WBTT-105.5 Naples Park, FL “The Beat”, hip hop. 1158mi.

2:02pm - WEAT-104.3 West Palm Beach, FL “Sunny 104.3” ID after long local spot break. 1110mi.

2:14pm - WSTI-105.3 Quitman, GA “Star 105.3” “always the most music for your weekend”. 935mi.

2:24pm - WWLL-105.7 Sebring, FL “Lite 105.7” “The Heartland’s Light” w/ spot for concert at SFCC in Avon Park. 1084mi.

2:29pm - WOCL-105.9 Deland, FL “O-Rock 105.9” local spot and slogan. 981mi.

2:52pm - WBCG-98.9 Murdoch, FL w/ID. Florida #89 since 2003. 1123mi.

Also got a relog with WEBL-102.5 "Better Country" on "The Bull" in Warner Robbins, GA. at 12:46pm. Previously logged as WELV "Love 102.5" with smooth jazz in 2003.

Skip was gone by 3pm, except for bits of Joy-FM 88.1 for a while. Always good to get these great skip openings on the weekend. Good DX to all.

Chris from Poughkeepsie.

While you were hearing Georgia and Florida, in Georgia we were getting NYC, Boston and D.C. stations. I heard 96.3 WQXR-FM and 101.1 WCBS-FM (Jack), to name just a couple. At one point, there was a signal on every open frequency, with the vast majority of the stations in Jersey, New York, Maryland Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

my best were WFLZ 93.3 FM
WPBZ-FM 103.1 MHz
