Favorite Automation System

I don't like any automation period. I have gotten used to Voice Tracking...but I totally dis-like UNATTENDED OPERATIONS-I think it's CHEAP and CHEATS THE COMMUNITY. I mean if you have Multiple Stations-is it that much money to have a part-timer of two as babysitters-that will know how to handle Simian in an EMERGENCY. I think where I work SIMIAN knows when it is unattended because we never have any problems as long as there is someone in the building,but the minute the last person leaves & turns off the light it stops,FREEZES,shuts down,jumps over events.I have never seen such a disaster in all my life.45 min-1 hour of dead air & re-boot a computer to get a station back on the air because there is nobody in the building to call?

Have 1 assistant babysit all your stations and you'd be off a minute or two vs...45 min to an hour and skip how many $$$$ worth of missed commercials? Too many these days are MONEY WISE but POUND-FOOLISH.
 
RDS Phantom. But only if pin-matrix Spartamation is unavailable. ;^)
 
Simian is cheap and easy to use if you are fully automated with no live programming to mix with automation, but otherwise it is a real pain to use. Digital DJ is a better product, in my opinion.
 
I have never found a perfect automation system. Each system has its quirks. For simplicity, I have to say the RDS Phantom. Easy to program and work with, but had some problems, such as not permitting other recording if it was doing a background recording. The Smarts system had a great switcher, the "RIDZ" that was quite brilliant, but it never had any rotator files. It was also a pain to modify the events after a holiday. The Scott/Google System is decent, but ultimately complicated on creating some of the clocks. As for the el-cheapos: Zara-Radio! Free but has rotators, sweeper files and is easy to use!

As has been said, they all have quirks and problems. Maestro is the system I have had the least amount of problems with, not problem free... but less than Scott, AudioVault and Simian.

Now that Maestro and Scott has been combined in to "Google Radio Automation" I'm curious how it performs.
