Favorite From the Fab 4

Who is your favorite Beatle? I like all of them, but my favorite is Paul. Of course, Paul is the most successful. I liked John, but he unfortunatley, didn't have enough time to build up his solo career. Who is your favorite Beatle?<P ID="signature">______________

For the longest time it was John.

But the older I get, the more I like George. And once he was able to break out on his own (White Album), his songs were absolutely magical.

And I agree with most of the critics too--as good as "Plastic Ono Band" was, George's "All Things Must Pass" is the greatest Beatle solo album.

Paul does tend to stand out (and A&E re-ran his "Paul McCartney In Red Square" concert again last week-very choice).

On the other hand:

* John was brilliant in so many ways and, despite marrying a woman most of
thought was totally strange, his stand on peace and togetherness cannot
be ignored. I'll never forget the night he died.

* George- that sweet voice of his was one-of-a-kind. And you gotta admit,
"What Is Life" is one of THE great top-of-the-hour talk-over intros.

* Ringo- the underrated Beatle. I actually thought several of his solo titles
were as good as any of the other chaps' (like It Don't Come Easy, Photograph
and You're Sixteen-- really great top 40 records).

* George Martin- Sir George, thank you for putting it/them all together so well.

But it's hard to deny Sir Paul.

Paul

I always through two of Paul's best solo hits were "Band On The Run"
and "Listen To What The Man Said"- simply perfect top 40 music.

Absolutely hated SLS when it was a hit, over the years it's grown on me. I think my fave is "Mull Of Kintyre". A stiff that should have been a hit.

BIG hit in Britain and the Isles...fizzled here. Go figure.

> Who is your favorite Beatle?

Growing up in the '80s, my favorite was Paul basically because he was the only one still cranking out Top 40 hits.

But now I'd say John would be more favorable to me. I never get tired of his '70s hits and his half of the "Double Fantasy" album is just as classic as classic can get.

Re: Paul

Paul seems to be a very savy business-type.

He knows how to work a crowd and plays pretty good guitar when not writing songs.

Not to name drop(cough-cough), but I had the opportunity to meet him after a Wings concert in 1976...he was very charming and the whole group was very accomodating to the press that was peppering him with questions.

I always liked Ringo (Richard)

Re: Paul

I'm still a Ringo.

I really enjoy some of his current solo stuff....it has the sound the beatles might have today....

Plus Photograph and It Don't Come Easy are still great sounding records....especially on the air...if you are lucky enough to have a station that will play them!
