Favorite Hip Hop Records From Back In The Day?

A pretty big East Coast record, especially on Hot 97, around 95 was Chef Raekwon's "Ice Cream"
http://youtube.com/watch?v=hzH1oZqmDAs

1988 Ice T brought the problems of gang wars into the forefront on the song "Colors"
http://youtube.com/watch?v=DxbYlE-oIgM

Big Power 106 record from Nine "Wutcha Want" circa 1994
http://youtube.com/watch?v=xayHYHhjDJU

The song that was too hardcore for radio, but had some top notch rappin....Tupac's "Hit Em Up"
http://youtube.com/watch?v=N4HjsZqOaQ0

Eric B & Rakim "Paid In Full", a true clasic.

Another mid 90s favorite from the mid 90s, Mobb Deep's "Shook Ones Part II"
http://youtube.com/watch?v=UeuEGr_UTzg

Goodie Mobb outta the ATL with "Cell Therapy"
http://youtube.com/watch?v=AuWB9Nhoypw

From Miami you had 2 Live Crew with "Move A Lil Somethin". Long before it became all too common to talk about bitches&hoes, the fast beat and explicit movie samples helped set this record apart

Good stuff right there 8)

I like anything from classic NWA, or old school Eazy E, Dr. Dre, Snoop, and more recently Old Tupac songs like Dear Mama, and Changes. Anything from Biggie is pretty good two.

I liked Rob Base-It takes two, and 2 live crew-Banned in the USA, anyone remember that song, it sampled Bruce Springstine-Borned in the U.S.A.......

Other good songs,,,, Duice-Dazy Dukes,,,,Freak Nasty-Da Dip,,, Tone Loc-Wild Thing, and Funky cold Medina....

Also, while not really hip hop, but still rhythmic-R&B, I loved everything from Bobby Brown back in the day. Also, Bell Biv Devoe was pretty good, remember DO ME, and Poison.

Showing my age here...I can go WAY deeper!

Kurtis Blow - Christmas Rappin, The Breaks
Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five - Freedom
Sugarhill Gang - Eighth Wonder, Apache
Whodini - Five Minutes Of Funk, Freaks Come Out At Night
Slick Rick - Lodi Dodi
LL Cool J - Rock The Bells
Doug E. Fresh - The Show
RUN-D.M.C. - Sucker MC's, You Talk Too Much

Just found a copy of Wu-Tang's Enter The 36 Chambers brand new on vinyl! Amazing album!
Public Enemy's It Takes a Nation...album is amazing as well
Dr. Dre's The Chronic
NWA's Straight Outta Compton and Ice T's Power...1988 never saw these coming!
Beastie Boy's Ill Communication. Rap got hotter when these punk ass white boys came into the rap industry.
MC Hammer's Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em...yeah you know you bought this tape, don't try to hide it.
You know you also bought just about every No Limit artist's albums in 1997! Master P had you sayin' UHHHHH!

This thread is amazing

These diggity dudes higgity had a couple higgity hits back in the day:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=VRl78By1ZqA

Can't forget the ladies who held it down:
Salt N Pepa - Expression
http://youtube.com/watch?v=xzRzjrDPgmk

Outkast when they were just teenagers, their first album is bananas:
Outkast - Southernplayalisticadillacmusik
http://youtube.com/watch?v=2T0SorIk3n0

Can't believe no one mentioned Ice Cube yet:
Ice Cube - Wicked
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ez6Lgz_O0Ns

Pop Hop today (I don't even give it the distinction of calling it rap or hip hop) just pales in comparison to these artists and selections from the old school
