Favorite Local Radio Show?

Mine has to be Sedge Thomson's West Coast Live, airing Saturdays 9 to 11am on KALW 91.7. Even though it's syndicated nationally, it maintains its local flavor and encourages a local audience to attend the shows. (Shows can be anywhere from Berkeley's Freight & Salvage to the SF Ferry Building to the Cowell Theatre at Fort Mason.)

What I like about the program are Sedge's weird sense of humor and equally weird interviewing style, the emphasis on local talent from comics and musicians to authors and just odd people with something to say. Where else can you hear True Fiction Theatre, comic Will Durst, and Chuck & Jeannie Poling's Country Roundup, along with a song by a Freight staffer (about gaining weight) that ends with the line, "If you can handle love handles, you can't handle love"?

What are other people's favorite local shows?

KFOG's 10@10, especially on days when Dave Morey is feeling exceptionally creative (he occasionally has his days when he's on auto-pilot, but when he's hot, he's awesome).

KPOO's Judge on Monday afternoons, "Grinder's Grooveyard" on Mon nites and JJ's '70s/'60s Soul Jam on Sat nite.

KPIG's Sunday morning live performance show, "Please Stand By".
