Favorite Online Oldies Stations

Do you have any particular online (only) Oldies stations that you enjoy listening to?

My favorite, right now, is 'Oldies 101' on Live365. It's supposed to be like Oldies stations of the 1990s....if you like a lot of "Oh wow" songs and obscurities, you may not like it, but it sounds pretty darn good. From their Live 365 page ... "based on the great Oldies FMs of 1989-99. We play the greatest Top 40 hits of the late 50s through the early 70s: Beatles, Brits & Beach Boys; Motown & Memphis; Elvis, Buddy & Chuck; Girl Groups & Doo-Wop!"

It's been fun hearing some of these songs lately that I haven't heard in a long time.....

In the mid 1960's the UK was surrounded by pirate radio stations brodcasting outside the (at that time ) 3 mile limit from UK shores therefore beyond the territorial limits for UK law. One of these stations was Swinging Radio England. Staffed pretty much by American presenters it was a shock wave wake up to traditional sixties radio here in the UK. The station did not survive long - infact just a few months, but during its time on air it did make a big impression on its audience.

As with everything great in radio, the UK goverment outlawed these offshore radio stations in August of 1967 and for the best part most stations fell silent. However a few radio stalwarts decided that they would revive Swinging Radio England to commerate the 1967 Marine Offences Act on its 2007 40th aniversary by broadcasting a week of nostalgia with the music and jingles of the station.

Although these broadcasts have now ceased (shame we did not find your forums earlier). We have made available for download some of the radio shows from our broadcast in MP3 format. If you are interested in hearing presented oldies programs from the UK then you can find the downloads at our website :

Definitely www.hylit.com . I grew up in the Delaware Valley, and was weaned on Wibbage. And WSBAland. And WAEB. And WABC. Later WFIL, and countless more at night. And only hylit.com plays ALL their jingles from all stations nationwide. It's really wonderful listening. And thanks for digging out the WMGM jingles. Also try www.kool983.com

DEFINITELY www.hylitradio.com. As a Philly native, now in Connecticut, its like comin home. And even if your NOT from Philly, the music selection and the old jingles from stations all across the country, make for a great listening experience!

Right now, I'm listening to www.1650oldiesradio.com

I’LL SECOND THAT! It’s a shame [or maybe, not] that this service is only a “hobby”; and its stream is presented with only a couple-dozen kbps. Their very-demure homepage admits to their casual nature; but there is A LOT of effort behind this [sort-of] station. It has one of the finest playlists I’ve heard and its self-deprecating attitude and “promotion” parodies are delightful... I even heard it “live-jocked” on a weekend evening about a week ago. At the same time, the local dazed ‘n confused “heritage” 100kw Clear Channel FM outlet was on auto-pilot :'( Thumbs-up, Steve!

Imagine my amazement to open this thread and see my little station mentioned right at the top. Thank you for the kind words.

We have a saying here in the UK : Credit where its due.

Great station. I can see why you run a low bitrate to give that lo-fi AM sound but I would love the super oldies in a bit better quality so whats the chance of "upping" the stream rate ?

It's possible. Up until now the station has been mostly a sandbox for me to play in. I'd have to think about the cost of improving the service vs. the benefit. Keep those comments coming!

Our Company "Cenla Broadcasting" In Alexandria, LA purchased 4 Clear Channel stations here in town last year. Prior to us making the purchase, they were in the process of shutting down a heritage AM station (KDBS or K-Dixie). Our owners Told me to take the Fulltime Sports off and put oldies on. We did and it's a hit! We made an investiment in a digital audio chain and new state of the art, solid state transmitter. It is amazing how great AM radio can sound when you make an effort. We stream in AAC+ stereo. Give it a listen www.kdixie.com ::)

Two stations I'm partial to, both on Live365. One, I must state, is my own newly-formed one that plays nothing past 1976 (I'm finding more and more so-called oldies stations on Live365 playing 80s and 90s music which bugs me a lot), also, I only play the 45 single versions of songs and my music is all run through an actual AM transmitter and AM radio- it's at: http://www.live365.com/stations/gmkevin711

The other one I'm listening to right now and has a good mix of hits and lower-charting songs and it's at:
