we all have those one or two stations that we like and are on the presets that come in, but are from different markets. what is your favorite station that comes in good but is from another area?

for me, 105.7 and 106.5

K-Earth 101 - LA
KGO - SF
WCBS-FM - NY
HY LIT RADIO - Philadelphia
WABC - NY
WBBM - Chicago
KNX - LA
WOGL - Philadelphia
WASH - Washington
The Cockroach - NY
WNEW-HD2 - NY

There ... those are the first of 18 presets on a Roku Labs "SoundBridge" radio. How many are locals? None. And they all sound great, with great streams, clean, crisp audio and playing what I like to hear.

In the car: XM, maybe a local talker once in a great while.

Radio is so "passe" today. Get an Internet Radio and find out what radio sounds like. "No static at all ..."

96.1 WSOX Lancaster/Harrisburg Oldies(much better playlist than WOGL)

I think I listened to 96.1 back when I worked summers in Peach Bottom, PA. I really got a kick out of it - such a different sound than 98.1.

97.9 WIYY 98 Rock Baltimore

WSOX is a nice sounding radio station. If we could somehow combine their playlist with WOGL's personalities, that'd be one awesome oldies...er, 'Classic Hits' station!

WOGL and Hy Lit Radio aren't local? Or aren't you in Philadelphia?

I've had a Roku M500 in my office for a couple of years (plugged into the aux input of a Tivoli Model Two AM/FM receiver) and probably spend more time listening to foreign stations than domestic. The overnight "Nachtmusik" program on OE1 from Vienna is a great source for commercial-free classical music; it can be heard from 6 PM to midnight here. Although, when I want something a little more entertaining, I'll put on "The Geoff Show" from Virgin Radio in London. The only Philadelphia stations in my preset list are KYW 1060, the two WXPN streams, and WKDU.

Another WiFi radio I recommend is the Sangean WFR-20, which uses the Reciva menu-based system. This is a self-contained unit with stereo speakers and ported cabinet, with surprisingly good audio quality for its small size -- very convenient if I want to listen in the workshop or garage. I set up an account with Reciva and have had no problem saving unlisted streams in the memory presets.

The Asus is cheap, but disappointing.

CKWW AM 580 - Windsor/ Detroit - "Motor City Favorites" Great Oldies of the 50's, 60's and 70's. They do a great job in recreating the glory days of the old CKLW.
WDJO AM 1160 - Cincinnati - Great Reel Oldies of the 50's and 60's. The DJ's make radio fun again.

I like 98 Rock in Baltimore, and I have been listening to 98.5 WACL (98 Rock) in Harrisonburg, VA, on the net at work. For some reason my employer's web filter does not block their stream. it does however block the stream of every local station that I listen to. I found the station when I googled 98 Rock from Baltimore.

Indie 103.1 (Los Angeles)..the best radio station anywhere ever..

From Wilmington ... living in California for 20 years, but still keeping an ear on things "back home." Looking forward to Terry Young's WIBG tribute Friday on XM.

Oh, I almost forgot ...

WVLT "Cruisin' 92.1" in Vineland to hear RJ "on the greatest station in the nation."

I used to listen to Mike Phillips on WNJC, but he broke the piggy bank and can't buy time. Must be rakin' in those beer bucks, though, between the Phils and the hot weather back East ;D

Mine is 92.1, WLNG Sag Harbor, NY. Great oldies, and better live web stream.
