Favorite Pennsylvania Radio Station

96.1 WSOX Lancaster/Harrisburg? I live in western chester county where we get all the Lancaster/Harrisburg stations, as well as all the Philly stations. WSOX is much better than WOGL 98.1 Philadelphia

Going back, I vote for WARM, 590 am in scranton/ wilkes barre, circa 60's and 70's...The best radio station ever, well promoted, dynamite personalities. Alas, these days its a shell of it's former self, run into the ground by corporate radio, and has a lame *ss satellite feed now and a poor signal :'(....this station and the jocks inspired me to go into radio!!!

long live the MIGHTY 590

warm590 ;D

Actually, WSOX is a York station that services the York/Harrisburg/Lancaster metros (and beyond).
The tower is in the borough of Red Lion, PA.

1490 WBCB Levittown, PA. Small 1,000 watter that super serves its community. It's not the best station around, but it's nice to know I can depend on them for very local news. The kicker? They're LIVE 24/7 - 365.

105.7 The X
97.9 The X
99.9 The Hawk
107.5 Frank FM
102.5 WRFY Y-102
95.1 WZZO
98.5 The Peak
93.5 WTPA

Scary how many responses are about stations that effectively no longer exist--that is, that haven't been big players in 20-30-40 years. In THAT category I'll vote for Altoona's 1290/WFBG, Harrisburg's 1230/WKBO & Waynesboro's 1130/WEEO--all top-flight Top 40 stations. (Today WFBG is news/talk, KBO is Christian, and WEEO got bulldozed 15 years ago). And, yes, the old 910/WSBA & 590/WARM were truly great radio stations 35-to-40 years ago. If Philly & the Steel City were part of this, 560/WFIL & 1410/KQV would get BIG votes, too. Oh, yeah, and 1020/KDKA.

Today--out in the woods? Chambersburg's 95.1/WIKZ, State College's 95.3/3WZ, Williamsport's 102.7/WKSB, and Altoona's 98.1/WFGY are all outstanding smaller market radio operations. The Froggy brand kicks booty in Johnstown & Meadville, too. On the AM side, Lewistown's 670/WIEZ does excellent full-service radio (and, man, that signal goes forever). Reading's 850/WEEU is also solid. Sunbury's 94.1/WQKX dominates the Central Susquehanna Valley. And way up in the woods, Du Bois' Country station Q102 sounds very good.

I've always liked T102 (WAVT Pottsville.) Still doing live and local radio with a pretty unique music mix. Proof variety can work. The Buzz 105.9 was a pretty good smaller alt rock station back in its day.

not to be rude, but my mom lives in pottsville and that has got to be the worst station i have ever heard in my life, rc thinks hes the shit. but thats just my opinion, Y-102 and frank rock pottsville all the way

T102 has a good variety. I like Y102 but liked them more before CC.

Away from Philly and Pittsburgh, it would have to be WRFY in Reading. WYCR in York, when it was once Top 40, before the late 90s

I used to love WANB in Waynesburg, I thought it was an awesome country station, but I moved away from that area and now it's K-love i guess. These days living in the Shenango Valley now, I really like Majic 99.3 and 104.5 in Meadville and Oil City/Franklin, and 96.7 the river in Mercer is a good soft rock station.

As far as I know... WANB is still pumping out the country for Waynesburg on 1580 AM, which is going to move to 1210 AM (still a daytimer, of course, with WPHT on the frequency at night...but a much better signal).

I don't believe the FM side at 103.1 is hooked up with K-Love at all - that would be a mistake on Radio-Locator. Bob Stevens' Broadcast Communications is in the process of moving 103.1 to a new facility with a Mount Pleasant PA COL (appears to be near Uniontown) and has been testing it for a while now.

Much more from Bob, and my friend Clarke Ingram (operations manager for Bob's stations in Pgh), on the Pittsburgh board...

I know that in the 90's WANB (Cool Country FM 103) was the best country station you could pick up in Washington and Greene County. The played the best country and their air personalties were great. I loved Crazy Dougie Wilson, the world's tallest lepurcahn (sp.) (Jeff Martin, I think) I used to call into him about every night. and the Midnight Holler. To me, they were better than WOVK, Y-108 and Rocky 103.5 (another old one) put together. lol Memories.........

Last time I checked WANB was runnning Citadel's country format off of the bird.

Favorite PA station of all time would be the best CHR EVER = 98 YCR - York.

Best station currently - WQZS, Meyersdale.
