FAVORITE RADIO PERSONALITY IN CENTRAL PA!!!

Scooter Fortney said:
Heh... Hell, I miss my jockin' days.

Thanks for the compliment. I think I've always known that production is what
I like best, but it's taken half a lifetime to find the right gig.

That's alright. I'v put aside re-entering radio for now, I'm planning to teach guitar.

Having fun I see, by the way got good news, don't think I can read my writing sometimes too, I get carried away and write way too damn fast!!!

;D ;)

First off, sorry to be coming in so late to some of these discussions. I only just landed on this message board tonight after seeing a rerun of Weakest Link with DJ contestants. Got nostalgic and thought I'd see if any old favorite names were out there somewhere to be found. ;D

I'm always glad to have Ed Coffey within radio range (I'll miss our on-air banter during AI season when he was on 106.7). And Scooter is great. Miss you on air, but I'm not sure where you are doing the production stuff (I have a nasty habit of keeping the radio off in the car in recent months....cannot explain it!) But it's great to see you around.

"pastywhitethighs"....fascinating name (mental image not so much).....I'm curious if I would know who you are....

But I will always have fond memories of names I haven't heard in years. Pardon me if I can't get the stations right. I had a radio groupie habit in the 1980s, so the list is long.

Michael Sarzinski (especially teamed with Dave Powers......had a memorable on-air dispute with MS one morning) 92 Rock

Rocky Spino (Had hundreds of on-air conflicts with him. He was so much fun) 98YCR, I believe.

Dave Peters - This is a reach for some, he was only on-air one summer that I know of (1984). I'd sit up weekends to hear him and we'd chat on the phone half the night. He'd let me pick the last song he'd play before signing off at 2am. I remember he had wanted to be known as Dave Anderson because he didn't want to say "Peters" on the air (imagine how he loved introducing that summer's hit by **** Robin!) but he got in too late on the first day to ask the preceeding DJ to into him as Anderson! 98YCR This guy turned me onto older Dire Straits and started me on the road to listening to classic rock. So, without him, I wouldn't have found Ed Coffey on 100GRX.

Danny Carlisle - I remember one time being on the phone with him when it was time for a contest. Not only was I not asked to hang up, but also I heard him skip some caller numbers while getting to the winner!

Rick White - I actually met him once because he lived near my grandmother. I talked to him the most recent of any of them. He seemed to bounce between 98 and 105.7 if I recall.

Oh, heck, there was an evening guy (I think on 98YCR)....I think he was Jim something. He used to have phone friends help announce the Top 8 at 8. I used to call in often (big shock). One night I was babysitting and called. He had me announce the #1 song with the preface "this, folks, is the ULTIMATE phone friend". After such a sweet comment, I hate that I cannot remember his name. The girl I was babysitting was absolutely blown away by my being "on the radio".

If we come into the 90s, we have Little Joe Frisco and Mark Feather. I used to talk to both and catch heck from each because I wouldn't stop talking to the OTHER.

Anyone know any of those names and what might have become of them?

I am shocked to think that anyone would accuse me of not taking the actual 9th caller when giving away some ridiculous prize like free Egg McMuffins or some [EDIT]. :) If I forgot numbers of callers, it was the years of alcohol abuse :)

[EDIT-profanity]

OH MY GOSH! Is it REALLY you after all these years? I think you skipped the 2nd and 7th callers that night. It was terribly funny from my perspective. Guess I misspelled your name, too. Sorry.....for how often I'd HEARD it, you'd think I could SPELL it!

If the alcohol didn't totally cloud your memory, I was the little teenage twit in York who had nothing better to do with her weekends but call you DJs. Always found radio fascinating. But the closest I've ever been to being ON radio would be reacting to winning albums, announcing #1 songs, and a few radio ads on WWSM 1510 here in Lebanon!

PS, I guess today we make the Jammer our honorary all-time favorite. My most heartfelt prayers to Ed, Amy, WTPA, and the Kauffman family!

You didn't mis-spell...its "Carlisle" just like the city...I just use the alternative spelling becasue its my license plate on my 76 Cobra II Mustang :) Thanks for thinking of me!!

Big condolences to the family of Jeff Kauffman...never met him personally, but heard great things about him. Its never easy to lose someone before thier time...Jeff had a lot of good years left!

hey, in my grand list of all-time greatest, you truly are there. You were entertaining, both on the air and on the phone. It's actually great that I can tell you that "directly". Glad I didn't misspell, either! It's so hard to get spellings of names you only HEAR!

76 Cobra II.....gee and I already had thought you were incredibly COOL! I'm impressed......

Thanks Andrea. You made my day. I'm touched that anyone actually remembered me. ;)

Well, IIRC, you were on a station I'd hear primarily when in the car with my husband (I have to compromise when travelling since I tend to gravitate towards LOUD music). Again, IIRC, the station changed formats, leaving all of you out of work and you and I had some email banter going on just after that. Wasn't too terribly long ago, so you might even vaguely remember some of this, not saying that my ramblings are ever of such importance that you wouldn't forget me. But it's possible. I think Mr. Carlisle has some scant memories of me from 20 years ago so anything is possible.

I'm just a radio stalker of two decades, what can I say!

It's cool.

Dave Powers was my PD at Starview and The Eagle, he left the radio biz in 2001.
Today, Dave is a Reverend in Central PA.

I worked with Rocky Spino at The New Q-106. I think he's been away from radio
since the mid '90s. Last I heard, he was still a teacher. A couple/few years ago,
his wedding photo appeared in a York newspaper.

I miss Bruce Bond! I know he was a the biggest jerk in radio but I sure do miss him.

As many of you already know, I left the Lancaster area in 1996, so forgive me again for my ignorance.

Where did Bruce Bond go? Last I knew he was at WINK 104. I remember when WTPA was moving down to 93.3 Bruce was the one who stayed at WINK. That was quite a few years ago now.

Some of my favorites include:

Dave Hendry ("Hollywood Heffelfinger") WNNK
Scott Fortney (formerly of WWKL)
RJ Harris WHP
Glenn Hamilton WRVV
Sue Campbell WNNK
Bob Rudy (formerly of WSOX)
Bill Moulfair (formerly of WNNK)

Gee, I didn't think Hollywood's MOTHER even knew his given name anymore! ;D

RJ Harris.....his kid tried to kill me about 16 years ago! :D He was a bat boy with the Harrisburg Senators and the ball got away from him during a game of pepper in pre-game and smacked me in the right ear. Everything turned black and I hit the ground! Got lots of attention from the team. Guess they were afraid of a lawsuit. But, sheesh, my ticket warns me of flying balls and I was standing with my BACK to the field. Now whose fault is THAT? ??? Besides, I'm not really a litigious sort. But the poor kid was afraid to talk to me for the longest time after that!

I have to say mine is John O'Dea at Wink 104 but that's only because I used to work for him when he was back in Fort Smith, AR. Now, we're within 60 miles of each other. Not only is he a great jock on the air, but he's an awesome person to work for.

Well you can always get on WINK 104's website and email John Paul Shaffer and ask him about Bruce. I emailed John 2 years ago and he told me Bruce is in NYC no longer in radio. [EDIT] I was too chicken to email him. I miss him!
