FAVORITE RADIO PERSONALITY IN CENTRAL PA!!!

Ugly DJ was my fave too - and he opened his show with Denis Leary's "Asshole." Clutch. ;D

What an incredible "Yucker" in the mid-day..Is that nervous laughter for real???
How does "Hi there,...How the heck ya doin"... relate to anybody?
I"ll take Melanie & Warm over this dude anyday!

I remember her name...it was Lauren...something or other...she was on the station that kicked ASS! Jack rocked! Really!

Lot of 98/YCR references. I always enjoyed J.J. Randolph's schtick on YCR--lot of energy. Last time I heard he was selling cars... or real estate.

I remember J.J. as part of the early-80s crew. T'was an era of good Pop music, and 98YCR did
those Feed-A-Friend Marathons, where they collected cans of food and spun The Youngbloods'
ancient single "Get Together."

The swelling/loopy jingle package from that time eventually landed at Y-102 (WRFY) in Reading.

What about that dreamy Aaron Price on FM97?

Who were the guys who did an evening show on FM/97 during '96/'97? That show was kinda cool,
and they often spun an excellent [radio-only?] remix of Keith Sweat's "Twisted," which was based
on a sample from Marvin Gaye's '83 hit "Sexual Healing."

Joey Reynolds, via satellite (WSBA). As for good FM jox, Scott Matthews (WRVV),
Jeni Gipe (WRVV), and Bill O'Brien (WYCR).

Regarding fave personalities, I'll include "Big" Don O'Brien. Don was hired at 98YCR after leaving Baltimore's
B-104 (WBSB), he co-hosted the "Morning Flakes" show with Axel Marley. Paul Scott (WSJW, WIOV, etc.)
was the traffic reporter for 98YCR, and frequently joined the show.

Don's stint in Central PA wasn't very long (Summer and Fall 1989, IIRC), but long enough for him to appear
on YCR's weekend music video show that aired on WPMT/Fox 43 during 1989.

One of the amusing things about this morning show was that, around 5:30, Don would hault the hot clock,
and with an open mic, dig out old 45rpm records and maybe put a caller on the air while digging around or
while the vinyl was spinning on the turntable. IIRC, during these times, Don was waiting for Axel to arrive;
the show didn't officially begin until 6:00am.

The last time I saw or heard Don O'Brien was several years ago. He'd returned to Baltimore, working as a
weather ancor for WMAR-TV/channel 2.
