Favorite Radios/Radio Stations

From Loganville, GA I listen to The Game 92.9 almost exclusively at home.

In the car I will very rarely listen to 99x and Chuck-FM.
Usually it's SXM. My presets are Ozzy's Boneyard, Lithium, Underground Garage, Outlaw Country and Margaritaville. In no particular order. I mean, they are in order but I poke at them until I hear something I want to hear at my particular mood. I keep preset 2 as a placeholder for interesting stations or temp channels that last like a month.

Preset 6 will always be Outlaw Country. It was my brothers car and everytime I rode with him I always hit 6, because we were very different but that music was something we both loved.

When it was still on, KISW HD-2, the Metal Militia channel. Then they pulled the plug on Metal Militia, and I pulled the plug on KISW.

FM since 2012 or so, to me, stands for F-ing Monotonous. There are sometimes I'll tune into a classic alternative HD2, but that's rare. Sometimes I switch on KUOW-FM overnights because it's BBC. Sometimes I tune in KPNW-FM 98.9, as I find their mix interesting to say the least. I know they get a bit of flack on the Seattle threads but I hope they last a while.

On the AM band my favs are CJYM Rosetown 1330, which comes in fairly well most evenings. Sometimes I have to add the loop. They play a wide selection of 80's-90's with a few older tracks thrown in, and a LOT of CanCon (more than 10% for sure, and a lot of those tracks are really cool). The weather reports are insane sometimes -- a high of minus 45C. Yikes. It's 9 degrees F outside right now and that's cold.

I also listen to KBRE 21660 Merced, the Bear, which plays rock, although reception is sometimes a little grainy. 660 CFFR has a decent Canadian newscast. CBK 540 for the CBC, although CBU Vancouver 690 has come in much better over the past 2-3 months. Sometimes early mornings I'll tune into 1270 and hear KAJO Grants Pass, as their mix of Classic Hits is pretty cool.

Like many here, I guess I'm an outlier and a DXer. So be it. There are times I loved FM (2012 was the last time I loved the music on that band, mainly the pop that was popular at the time) and other times? Not so much appeal.

Radio... my Grandparents 1938 Zenith console. I grew up with it. A DX machine,

Station (current) What's left of WIRL Now branded as Super Hits 102,7 OTA translator on that channel and on an HD 2 channel. I'm well out of range for those, but listen online.

Radios:
  1. Any Pioneer SuperTuner head unit. (My current AVIC-W8500 includes HD Radio capability, and it streams, but alas, it may be the last aftermarket head unit I'll ever own considering the way infotainment systems are integrated into new vehicles now.)
Yep' today's "infotainment systems" have come a lot way since the photo below (from before I was even born). While it does take away the ability to install aftermarket radios in most cases, in others it's a vast improvement vs. what once was..

From my home in Winder Ga, during the day I usually have WSB AM on, in the car I often listen to SXM 1st Wave.
While working I have a SONY XDR-S3HD on in my home office. I DX on a Flexradio 6400M, SDRPlay RSPdx, CCRadio 2E, and a Sangean 909-X2
