FCC and Terrestrial Radio

I am just wondering how long terrestrial radio as we now know it will continue to use towers to broadcast. I know that by 2016 there will be no more AM or FM radios made for cars. So I guess its just a natural progression of change towards the app based stations. I kinda like the fact that I can listen to almost anything I want for a small fee (internet or WiFi) each month (includes the standard fee for wifi or internet). And at some point I know that the FCC will try and regulate the App based stations just like terrestrial. So those of you now that are broadcasting on the app should consider banding together and fight the FCC and the future regulation if any on app based US stations.

The guy who wrote that radio would be gone from new cars by 2016 has since recanted; it was a misquote. I'm sure terrestrial radio will be gone someday but I'm not betting it'll happen in my lifetime. (I'm 53 and have no reason to believe I'll be dying any sooner than the actuarial tables suggest :) )

The FCC hasn't shown much interest in regulating Internet radio. IMHO the copyright organizations are a much bigger threat to online radio.
