FCC Applications 11/19: EMF Expanding In San Francisco

http://radioinsight.com/blog/headlines/86723/fcc-applications-1119-emf-expanding-in-san-francisco/

Radio insight is reporting that EMF has gotten construction permits to expand K-love to the rest of the San Francisco DMA. Also KREV has also gotten permits to boost CHR “Rev 92.7” KREV Alameda from 3.6kW at 128 meters to 6kw at 100 meters from the tower of 1260 KSFB San Francisco.

The change involving KLVS 107.3 has been in the works since they acquired the station several years ago, good for them.

It's a bummer to see a grandfathered license get changed but I understand why. There is more value in the on channel boosters in Hayward and Oakland then anything else. I imagine the main station will be on Mt. Diablo and will be de-optimized to limit the crash zones.

Unfortunately, the topography of San Francisco and the Bay Area isn't going to be friendly at low power but still a good move.

Moving 92.7 to Candlestick was actually proposed by John Higdon about 5 years ago, but Flying Bear Media didn't have the money to do it. Might work out well; I did some field-strength plots back in the day and with the extra watts allowed at the lower height, it *should* cover The City just as well plus get out to the S. bay better. Certainly a better idea than moving it to Sutro and reducing the power to 500W as was done before.
