FCC APPROVES 104.7 SALE

Today, 11/23/09 the FCC approved the sale of 104.7 (CP Redlands) to Gold Coast clearing the way for KDES to move to 98.5

Tis a sad day...in my area in Yucca Valley I can pick up 104.7 in the car, but not 98.5. :(

So is the IE getting Q104.7 from the 805? I thought it was liberman that bought that signal from kdes?

Liberman was the origional buyer but "backed out" after Goldcoast put up a fight. Goldcoast is the "new" buyer and will have a similcast on Redland's 104.7. KDES will make the switch to 98.5 late next month.

So the IE is going to hear Q104.7?

Yep...It will be "The 805, 909 and (with a few boosters), the 818's Hip and R&B station", with a few listeners in between.

I get is surprisingly well here in West Hollywood.

Interesting... so is it gonna be a game of 99.1 KGGI vs Q104.7? Which means 99.1 would have to do "99 minutes of commercial-free music" due to competition?

This just seems odd to me. Why would Gold Coast broadcast KCAQ into Riverside?

We've all seen this happen a million times. Just because it comes in clear, doesn't mean people will believe that it's local. Their bread and butter will still be Ventura / Oxnard... so all the spots / remotes etc... will be Ventura / Oxnard.

Won't really connect to the IE in any way.

Something else must be "a brewing".

The switch of KDES to 98.5 will take place at 12 midnight Feb.2nd. Also at the same time KWXY will move to 1340 and KPTR to 1450. It is not known if Goldcoast will fire up the new 104.7 Redlands at that time. KWXY will feature daily jocks Ford Michels, Don Wordel, Jonny Bruce and K.Collins from 6am to 10pm with a standards format with aprox. 1,800 vocal and instrumental hits.
