This may be old news. One of Don Curtis' companies is buying W224CJ/Kinston for WELS.

Capital Area Team Sports lands a low power construction permit (because apparently the Triangle doesn't have quite enough sports stations).
 
... and apparently Triangle Sports Broadcasters was late with the renewal of a silent STA for WDUR. I thought late = delete, no matter what? Assuming WDUR is not deleted, my bet is still on Curtis. Coverage area-wise 1490 is a good match for 96.9 (should it go La Ley-less again) - assuming Uncle Don can talk 'em down to a low price.
 
Came across this forum a little while ago, and while poking around was surprised to find this post.

I'm the Executive Director of (what was formerly) Capital Area Team Sports, which got the LPFM permit you spoke of a few months back. You needn't worry about another sports station in Raleigh... at least, not due to us.
