FCC Asked To Change Retrans Blackout Rule

Cable operator Mediacom Communications files a rulemaking petition at the FCC that would ban stations from pulling their signals from MVPDs after expiration of a retrans license if the stations isn't available over the air or by streaming to 90% of its market.

So Mediacom wants to be able to carry signals and profit from them without paying the originator for them. The FCC should reject this petition and laugh in the face of Mediacom when it does so, or approve it and then require Mediacom to connect consumers to the signals and be able to recover only their costs with large fines if they overbill by even a penny.
