FCC Auction 109 in Nevada

The construction permit for 103.3 in Tonopah, Nevada has been granted by the FCC to RxDIO.com LLC of Lynnwood, Washington. It's only 100 watts ERP at 105M HAAT, almost the minimum for a Class A. I guess there's no point in radiating sagebrush with a max facility arrangement.

That's very true. The low-power Tonopah translators carry almost as far as the higher power public radio station, at least along the highways, before terrain gets in the way. So little FM interference there.

100 watts is also doable with solar. Sun hours are often in abundance!

From the permit-holder's web site:
Q: What kind of music does RXDIO play?
A:
We think a good desciption would be "rhythmic instrumental elevator music". It's all exclusive non-vocal electronic music with a downtempo vibe, and flavors from music scenes around the world.

It sounds like Tonopah is getting a Beautiful music radio station, just a modern interpretation without string arrangements of Bette Midler songs.

Rxdio LLC is Richard Dalton who i think was invovled in seattles C89.5, he is/was a club dj or somehow invovled in club/dance type music. This CP Was probably cheap and being that no main studio is required anymore, and a 100 watt fm this will be cheap to operate

Id bet he thinks itd be Cool to own a radio station

A long road traveled, but SSR Communications" Auction 109 winning bid for (then) Caliente, Nevada looks to have a nice end-state.

SSR first filed to build out in Dammeron, Utah as a Class A broadcasting from the valley floor at -199M HAAT with a power of 1500 watts. This past week SSR submitted a modification request to upgrade now-KCAY 104.9 to a Class C3 at 25kw ERP with a much higher +45M HAAT. The signal will target St.George, Utah and reach into Arizona and Nevada.as well. About 145,000 people will be in the 60dBu contour.

Here is the paperwork:
