FCC Auction 109

They will probably keep on the KXJZ tower rather than move over to KBEB. Pretty sure the 107.9 antenna is still there and they are paying rent either way.

Bustos Media quickly filed the CP paperwork for their new 92.1 Class A in Cottonwood. No surprises as it was a very "tight" allocation. They'll run 6kw off of an ATC cellular tower just south of Anderson off I-5. Since Bustos already runs a cluster of stations in Chico the Cottonwood station should fit well.

92.1 covers all of Redding and most of Red Bluff. They'll have about 150,000 people inside the 60dBu contour.

Redding and Chico need more stations like you and I need a hole in the head

KRBN seems to be a selected cut of Radio Lazer programming, not synchronized with the Cal-Nevada area live feed. The more important player for Spanish radio in the area is KTOR 99.7 from Gerber. It's only 470 watts ERP but throws a nice signal over greater Red Bluff and Redding metroplex. Independence Rock Media, LLC also owns the licenses for other Spanish stations - KEGE covering Chico and KIQS AM 1560 in Willows.

Does Redding have any Spanish-language stations? They are more than 10% Hispanic, so it seems they would/should by now. I know they did several years ago, but it flipped pretty quickly.
The market per Nielsen is 9.7% Hispanic. But the whole market is just 184,000 persons, so that small percentage represents below 5% for Spanish dominants and not enough for declaring an HDHA in the market.

Further, there are only a couple of stations that cover adequately, and the market is very low billing... the biggest station does less than $40 thousand a month in revenue.

Revenue has fallen or stagnated every year for the last decade. Obviously a very dreadful market. #220 in population, around #250 in revenue.

Interesting insight. Thanks for sharing.
