FCC Auction 109

The iHeart application sits in "Accepted For Filing" status like most of the Auction 109 requests. Only a few have been granted construction permits so far: Ft Bragg, California , Randsburg, California, Boardman, Oregon... If they involved Canada or Mexico there will be several months delay for international coordination.

Umm ok

Two Auction 109 stations got their CPs today, both in outside of Abilene, Texas - Albany, and Rule. An application for Milano, Texas is being contested as an existing translator will be bumped. In any case, the log jam clears slowly.

It shows the general progress of Auction 109 applications-to-permits and hints at when iHeart might get their 107.9 CP. I would imagine iHeart already is working the backend buildout at their studios : audio chain, web design, etc. The real question is how much of the former 107.9 hardware remains at the proposed tower site?

Bustos Media quickly filed the CP paperwork for their new 92.1 Class A in Cottonwood. No surprises as it was a very "tight" allocation. They'll run 6kw off of an ATC cellular tower just south of Anderson off I-5. Since Bustos already runs a cluster of stations in Chico the Cottonwood station should fit well.

92.1 covers all of Redding and most of Red Bluff. They'll have about 150,000 people inside the 60dBu contour.

The Bustos Media application for 92.1 in Cottonwood (in the massive "Redding-Red Bluff Metroplex") has been approved (posted 10/15). Amador Bustos now has a construction permit for a 6kw station. ¡Enhorabuena! Congrats!

Cottonwood 92.1 took seven weeks from submission to approval. There was a massive wave of Auction 109 applications (perhaps 95% of total) submitted on September 13th, the Monday closing deadline. International applications nothwithstanding (impacting Canada and Mexico 320km limit), I would expect at least another four weeks will be needed to flushout the backlog.

Bustos’ CP will presumably add a 3rd regional Mexican format to the MetroPlex. Some Bustos formats are Russian also.

The Bustos stations that are russian are leased to others

Checking the website fcc.today (sponsored by Rec Networks) showed only two Auction 109 applications received construction permit grants last week. At that rate, perhaps by Christmas, iHearr Media will get approval. I am sure the engineera, IT gurus, and programmers are working behind the scenes to jumpstart 107.9 once the CP is granted.

The Bustos Media outlet in Cottonwood on 92.1 now has a callsign. It's "KZTZ". Since Bustos' 107.5 "La Zeta" in Colusa-Chico is "KZSZ" I suspect Cottonwood-Redding also will carry "La Zeta" format.
