FCC reaches initial decision in the case of Cesar Guel

ALJ: Guel can remain involved with broadcast stations, but disclosure must be provided on any application he is involved with. He cannot have any controlling interest.

 
Güel, güel. The fine was pretty hefty. "Guel was also found liable of a monetary forfeiture of $188,491."

(I prefer the Castilian spelling as one can form puns with it.)
 
I skimmed the FCC order pretty quickly and didn't catch what happens with the LPTVs stations. Is that still going to be decided later?

Jennifer Juarez had already surrendered all of the subject LPTV licenses for cancellation as this case was unraveling. They are all gone. This was mentioned in the REC article linked above.
 
What's interesting to me is that this decision was made by an administrative law judge, not the commissioners. Also that some of the recommendations of the enforcement division were not followed. There are several other investigations being pursued by the enforcement division now. It'll be interesting if they go the same way.
