FCC RENEWING STATION LICENSES in NEW ENGLAND

The FCC is apparently granting license renewals for AM & FM station early this time. WJIB-740 and WJTO-730 's licenses were renewed on March 24th, but will not appear in public notices until March 29th. - The license term is 8 years.

My college station (WMLN Curry College) just got our letter of confirmation that the station has received its license renewal...if anybody cares

If this is true of WCRB-FM, it may speed up the date of the sale announcement.

And speaking of such, Greater Media/CRB are certainly taking their time on making an announcement. The original press release stated that they were working to have an announcement with more information on 2/1/06, but we're coming upon 2 months after that. You'd wonder if GM is trying to organize a sale of 99.5 before making an announcement... or if they're waiting until the last minute to announce the changes as if to put off the protests of classical fans. Or perhaps the WBOS/Sox deal has something to do with it?

That is, licenses have been renewed for stations that did NOT have objections filed from the general public, by March 1st. There WAS an objection filed against WCRB's renewal.
