FCC reserves proposed relocation channel for KPPX 51 Tolleson

The FCC has designated channel 14 as a proposed allotment for Tolleson AZ. Were KPPX to wish to vacate channel 51, they would be able to move there, but I believe they would have to do so without compensation, as no incentives have been approved by the FCC for channel 51 licensees who voluntarily move.

Given the fluid nature of incentive and repacking plans, I don't see why KPPX would want to move now instead of holding out in hopes of a financial incentive to relocate.

Yes. Wireless wants a buffer between TV signals and theirs. The FCC could have appropriated channel 51 for the buffer, or channel 52; FCC chose 51. Low-power stations are abandoning the channel because, being a secondary service, they're not permitted to cause interference to a primary service, such as a wireless signal on the frequencies that used to be TV's channel 52.

Much to the wireless industry's chagrin, no full-power channel 51 station is being forced to move - yet - but the allotments are reserved just in case a station wishes to do so voluntarily.
