Okay. What is this?

(WARNING: This is an Adobe PDF. Be forwarned.)
http://hraunfoss.fcc.gov/edocs_public/attachmatch/DA-05-2423A1.pdf

List on pages 14 and 15 and duplicated here:

45 (DT) Greeley, CO
48 (TV) Pueblo, CO
03 (DT) Apalachicola, FL
46 (DT) Derby, KS
22 (TV) Topeka, KS
27 (TV) Duluth, MN
49 (TV) Osage Beach, MO
51 (TV) Bend, OR
31 (TV) Victoria, TX
51 (DT) Medical Lake, WA
51 (TV) Jackson, MS

WHY ON EARTH is the FCC STILL giving out analog CPs? These stations will only be able to broadcast in analog for two years at most!

And that's not all -- as you can see here:

> 03 (DT) Apalachicola, FL

They're still issuing digitals in the 2-6 range, which is more subjectable to interference. Those watching these channels in analog will understand.

What's the use issuing new 2-6 in digital when they would probably end up moving anyway?

Auction = $$$$$$$

It's not the FCC's fault that there are fools out there who will
bid them up. They're sitting there like ducks waiting to be
plucked...to waste them would be to deny dollars to the treasury.

The government is just like grocery stores, oil companies, insurance companies, and every other revenue intensive operation. It will take all the money people are foolish enough to shovel into the treasury's coffers.

Even if they're listed as analog CPs, any of these stations would be able to flash-cut to digital or to just sign on as a DT on those channels, no?<P ID="signature">______________

I think they have that option. "DT" stations must sign on as digital, no matter what; "TV" stations can sign on as analog or digital, but, signing on after 1999, can only flash-cut to digital.

Anyone have a million dollars or so floating around? These two are of particular interest to me (check the FCC's database for why), so I took a look at what the minimum bids are:

Greeley, CO: $705,000
Medical Lake, WA: $420,000

In fact, these are the highest minimum bids on the list. I wonder if the FCC would be willing to give me a cut of the proceeds?
