Noticed at least 6 times in the past week that WBET-AM 1460 Brockton
does not do an hourly station I.D. I understand they are now using
the Talk America network but no hourly i.d. tags. How can they get away
with this? Computer glitch?

Half the stations I hear do not do legal ID's

WILD goes dark at sundown with no ID at all

I think the FCC is to busy doing nothing to care

They only seem to investigate when someone complains, but they DO still fine for Legal ID violations...

Where's chief Scott Fybush of the Station Identification Police when you need him??

Well, they couldn't find a sponsor for the legal ID: "WBET Brockton. This Legal ID was brought to you by Knucledragger's Garage on just off Rt 24 at... ", therefore it isn't going to air...

Or Plan B: No one knows how to manipulate the automation there to do a legal ID drop.

Plan C: Someone incorrectly programmed the automation to play the legal ID, but no one at the station listens to it's own drivel. I've seen this happen so many times before in the real world.

Not many really care about strictly following Legal ID rules anymore. When was the last time you saw a station fined or cited for violation of the legal ID rules?
I can't count the number times I've heard stations that did not ID properly if they ID'ed at all.

One of my favorite examples is WROR-FM 105.7. Look at their license - Look in their Public File. Look in the FCC license database and you will find WROR-FM Framingham MA. Have you EVER heard them ID as WROR-FM? They don't use the FM part of their FCC issued call letters at all.

From the FCC database:
WROR-FM MA FRAMINGHAM USA

Licensee: GREATER BOSTON RADIO, INC.

Check it out yourself at the FCC

Just one of many violations. Besides, isn't it the Chief Operator that is responsible for insuring the legal operation of the station, including legal ID? The transmitter Op should also insure proper ID (but he/she is easy to fire). And the PD and GM are blameless, right?

Besides, even with no ID you knew it was WBET, right? And even without the FM, I know it's WROR-FM. So what if it is not in done as prescribed in the FCC rules and regulations? Just call it an ID malfunction.....
