FCC Writes to two Pirates

Okay, how long does it takes to get a license from the FCC to legally broadcast a radio station (AM, FM, or SW)?

How long to get a license? Probably within six months of the time you strike a deal with the current owner. But you can time - broker it on the day of sale if you like.

To turn up a new signal? Somewhat longer.

it would also take thousands or even millions that I'm sure these two "owners" don't have. They'd be better off trying for LPFM in the next window.

LPFM is a joke! It will never come to pass as the FCC said. Part 15 on the otherhand is cool only if you like listening to yourself. Or you enjoy having a signal that fades at your driveway.

due to a new proliferation in anonymous email services and ip addy hiding services like TOR...there is no reason a pirate shouldnt be able to operate and be virtually uncatchable:)

a pirate could carry a schedule as long as the bcsts were less than an hour or so, equipment for 100 watts or so is pretty small....and prety mcuh can always be made to run off 12vdc...stick in a car, chuck a 2 meter 5/8 wave mag mount and an antenna tuner in there and drive around....constanly changing directions are exceedingly difficult to zero in on
