Feature Weekends on Hot AC's

I believe listeners have become bored with regular radio & these "dazzling feature weekends" some Hot AC's run.(All 80s all weekend, all 90's, then & now, etc), especially when 90% of the songs are what you hear in regular format anyway. They're a far cry from the golden age & the CKLW "Million Dollar Weekends". Are there any feature weekends out there that don't involve giveaways that get positive feedback/any feedback on Hot ACs? During ratings time does it help to run these features every single weekend? Just looking for thoughts.

I think a lot of it depends on your market position and how 'conservative' or 'liberal' your playlist is. I think feature weekends are probably not a good idea for Hot ACs that are either CHR-leaning or for stations that are the only contemporary music station in their market. For those stations, I think it takes away from their overall identity as a "hit music" source.
