Feb. '24 Ratings

That's because they're not publicly available. Occasionally a trade will do an article on a city's morning shows. The last time Inside Radio looked at NYC was in 2021:

At the time, Scott Shannon was at WCBS, so this is obviously dated.
Didn’t know that Thanks for letting me know. It’s a shame. The Morning ratings are the most important

Then why would stations pay to get the ratings if they were released to the media for free? Nielsen gives away the 6+ or 12+ shares because that data is useless within the radio and advertising industries.

I’m listening to the final week of listening to my favorite, Race Taylor, and after Friday, that’s it! It’s over! I will not be listening to WCBS-FM ever again. I’ve been a loyal listener for a very long time, and it’s about to change. I’ve been fan since the oldies format when WCBS-FM was king back in the 1980’s and 1990’s right up until 2005. And now, the current year WCBS-FM is the return of “Jack”.

I used to listened to Harry Harrison, Ron Lundy, Bob Shannon, Don K Reed, Bobby Jay, Cousin Brucie, Dan Daniel, Dan Ingram, Dan Taylor and many more right up to Scott Shannon. I missed all of these people that were on the station for years. And now, it’s time for me to move on.

I will listening to Mike McGann over at WLML’s “Legends 100.3” in West Palm Beach, FL starting Monday at 10AM.

WCBS-FM got a 4.6 after it dropped from 6.2 according to the recent ratings.

I will record the entire week of Race Taylor this week, and I will be posting it this weekend. I’ll keep my fingers cross.

Thanks for that update.

I understand that Mr. McGann has a full week of special programming planned for MTN's first week of listenership. I've heard that McGann told a friend at the Palm Beach Post that he considers his gaining MTN's listenership to be the defining moment of his radio career. Quote: "of all the possible listening choices MTN has, his choice of my show is an absolute life changer. I can never thank him enough."

I would agree of that. The problem with WCBS-FM is that the music has been overplayed all the time for example “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond which is still a classic, and it’s the only song that certifies as an “Oldie”, and still is. The rest of them were not all that great. For instance, the 80’s songs were perfect, like “Livin’ On A Prayer” by Bon Jovi and it’s still my aunt’s favorite song, and it’s still playing a lot in its heavy rotation on Race Taylor’s show, but the 90’s were okay, but I still love Britney Spears, and I love “Baby One More Time” which is still a great song, but I first heard it since I got into Britney Spears back in 1999, and I used to have CD’s and posters, and fan magazines. Those were great times, and I will be listening to her songs during my final week of Race Taylor, and it’s the middle of the week until this Friday will be my final listen to Race Taylor after close to 7 months since I went back to WCBS-FM back in September and listen to him where I made its return following “Sunny” Joe on WGNY-FM’s “Fox Oldies”. Starting Monday, I will listen to something completely different that has not been heard since Dan Karcher hosted “Stardust Memories” on WRCR since he left back in February 2022. We shall see.

And just to let you all know, just to get off topic though, March 29th was the last time I listened to Race Taylor, but I have airchecks from the last week I was listening to WCBS-FM. After that, I’m 100% done with the station and moved on.

Back on April 1st which was April Fools Day, I started listening to Mike McGann on WLML’s “Legend 100.3” down in Florida and it sounds really good, and I started to like Mike McGann a lot, because it’s way better than Race Taylor. He plays some great music like Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald, and lot more, just like the glory days of the good old WNEW-AM on “11-3-O” back in the 1980’s right until December 1991, and WQEW at 1560 AM from 1992 through 1998, and WJUX’s “Jukebox Radio” from the late 1990’s through the early 2000’s, and he does an amazing job doing a show that replaced Race Taylor from WCBS-FM from its usual time slot, and this is the show that brought it back since Dan Karcher left back in January 2022 as the host of “Stardust Memories” on WRCR, but now, “Stardust Memories” is back once again.

I love Mike McGann, and it’s my new favorite midday guy, and I am now listening to it throughout midday right before Chris Buckhout on WLNG at 2PM.

I have from the first week of Mike McGann on WLML’s “Legends 100.3” which is now in my collection.
